Overview

Audi is launching their new flagship, the high revving V8, S tronic twin-clutch transmission, upgraded RS 5 Coupe Quattro. This high performance coupe will be available for order in the spring with first deliveries in October 2010.

The power on tap from the 4.2-litre FSI V8 petrol engine is immense and this supercar delivers 450PS at 8,250rpm, reaching 0-62mph in only 4.6 seconds and onto a top speed of 155mph. The combined mpg of the car is 26.2 and CO2 emissions are 252g/km.

New Quattro Technology

The car brings together the very latest technology from Audi with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) from the RS 6, the sport differential from the S4 and S5 and the latest Quattro all-wheel-drive system with crown gear differential.

The self-locking crown-gear centre differential can easily vary the distribution of the torque between the front and rear axles with as much as 70% to the front or up to 85% towards the rear. This 40:60 ratio of the standard rear based configuration delivers highly responsive and impressive handling.

Audi drive select

The Audi drive select is a standard feature on the RS 5 and allows the driver to switch between three modes of operation; comfort, auto and dynamic. Each mode adjusts the sports differential, the steering weighting, shift points for the seven-speed S tronic, the Dynamic Ride Control, engine and the exhaust system.

Trim & Equipment and Styling

The RS 5 chassis is 20 millimetres lower than that of the Audi A5 and sits on 19-inch 5-spoke Aero design alloy wheels fitted with 265/35 tyres. The car also has adaptive swivelling xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights and LED rear lights plus a speed-activated rear spoiler and the trademark oval RS tailpipes.

Inside you get black Silk Nappa Leather complimented by carbon fibre and aluminium elements plus extra temperature and lap timer gauges. Add to this electrically adjustable super sports seats, 180-watt CD sound system, three-zone climate control, the Audi Parking System Plus with front and rear sensors, tyre pressure monitoring and an RS multi-function steering wheel with aluminium-look gearshift paddles and you are certainly well equipped.
