Space and Comfort

The capacity of the boot of the new Touring model is 560 litres and with all the rear seats folded this expands to a huge 1,670 litres. You can also specify a further option called Extended Storage that includes “cargo” functionality for the rear seats which creates a further 30 litres around the rear seat backrests.

The new Touring model also offers great legroom for rear passengers with the longest wheelbase in its class at 2,968mm. The cabin resembles the look and feel of the BMW 7 Series with high resolution electronic displays and Black panel technology integrating the centre console into the trim of the car.

Standard Options - main

All models will feature “40/20/40” flat-folding rear seat backrests, an automatic luggage load cover and a tailgate with a self opening rear window for ease of access. You also benefit from self-levelling air suspension at the rear plus Dakota leather upholstery and automatic air conditioning with two zone control.

All the models are packed with the latest EfficientDynamics packages including Brake Energy Regeneration, Active Aerodynamics, low rolling resistance tyres, Electric Power Steering and lightweight engineering throughout the vehicle. The BMW 520d Touring is also the first 5 Series to come with Auto Start-Stop plus manual gearbox models come with an Optimum gearshift indicator to help you change gears efficiently to save fuel.

Transmission

Manual models have a standard six speed manual gearbox plus a redesigned gearshift level to provide a sportier gear change. The option of the BMW 7 Series new eight–speed automatic transmission also adds a touch of luxury while being six per cent more fuel efficient.

Optional Equipment

There are many optional items, with the major items including Park Assist to enhance parking, four-wheel active steering (to reduce the turning circle of the car), Head-up Display, Night Vision with pedestrian recognition, Lane departure Warning, Lane Change Warning, Speed Limit Info and two rear entertainment packages are also available.

There are four optional equipment packages for the UK.

BMW Business Advanced Media and BMW Professional Multimedia packages include BMW Navigation, BMW ConnectedDrive – Assist and Online and Voice control. The Dynamic package includes 19-inch alloy wheels, Sport seats, Anthracite headlining, Sport leather steering wheel and High-gloss exterior trim. The Visibility package includes Adaptive headlights, Xenon headlights, High-beam Assist and headlight wash.

BMW expects the 520d to be the best seller in the UK and BMW contract hire pricesare available now.
