Ford Transit 330 AWD

Ford Transit 330 AWD review

Overview

Ford has recently added a new 4WD version to its already expanding Transit range to provide a proper panel van with excellent all wheel drive handling.

This Transit is based around the 2.4 Duratorq TDCi engine and comes with a six speed manual gearbox. It can be based around a van, chassis cab or minibus and is available in low, medium or high roof derivatives with short, medium or a long wheel base.

Under normal road conditions this Transit uses a rear wheel drive power train, however once driving over slippery surfaces, the all wheel drive system using a Haldex twin clutch differential comes into play. The superb all wheel drive system is completely automatic and needs no driver intervention.

The ride height and loading height remains the same so it does affect it’s off road ability slightly i.e. the ground clearance however this should not be an issue for most users.

Standard equipment on the basic model includes

  • Power assisted steering and ABS.
  • Remote central locking.
  • Cruise control.
  • Driver seat memory and airbag.
  • Locking fuel cap.
  • Entertainment system with portable music connection socket.
  • Tinted glass.

Technical

  • Gross vehicle weight 3300 kg.
  • Maximum load weight is 1262 kg.
  • Length is 4863 mm.
  • Width 1974 mm.
  • Wheelbase 2933 mm.

This new addition to the “Backbone of Britain” Transit range looks sure to be a success, if all wheel drive capability and Ford reliability is on your shopping list.
