Comparecontracthire.com chooses CAP data to power the site

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

COMPARECONTRACTHIRE.COM has chosen CAP data to power its innovative web-based fleet car and van quotation system.

CAP, which was established in 1979, is the premier provider of used and future residual values data, technical information and asset management support systems and is the benchmark chosen in the fleet industry.

The accuracy and flexibility of CAP New Vehicle Data enables Comparecontracthire.com to offers an efficient way for small, medium sized businesses and consumers to source cars and vans specifically. Any make or model can be quoted with the 12 funding partners feeding contract hire rates into the site on a wide variety of parameters.

CAP data has unlocked Comparecontracthire.com’s ability to provide an ideal car and van quotation solution for businesses looking to source vehicles at highly competitive rates on a smaller scale than large fleets. At the heart of the Comparecontracthire.com website is a live quote engine powered by CAP’s technical and pricing data, seamlessly integrated via the industry standard CAP Code.

The site software automatically checks each price provided by funders and also instantly populates the system with all technical and identification details ranging from engine size to trim levels and optional equipment and even images of over 5000 new vehicles.

Discontinued models are automatically filtered out, thanks to CAP new vehicle data’s continual updates, whilst new models are added on a weekly basis.

With more and more car and van models being offered, with ever more complex trim levels and options by manufacturers, CAP’s unique CAP code ensures the information we share with the outside world is extremely accurate. This is vital for the funders who feed in their rates to our site and to SMEs and consumers who use our quote engines.

Quotes can be obtained on the following criteria @ www.comparecontracthire.com ;

-  The exact made and model of your choice

-  By choosing a £ budget per month and selecting the range of manufacturers

-  By selecting the CO2 g/km output you wish to achieve from your next car or van.

-  Or by choosing your next car or van by combined MPG to find fuel efficient vehicles

Variations on contract hire quotes can be found as follows

-          Business or Personal contract hire

-          Maintained or non maintained contracts

-          24, 36 or 48 month contract hire durations

-          Annual mileages of 10,000 or 20,000 miles per annum.

Comparecontracthire.com is the UK’s first contract hire price comparison site and aims to make life easier for small businesses and consumers. The useful information section on the site covers most things a small business or a consumer would want to know about contract hire or other motoring related matters.

SME’s are now big news and need help in these uncertain times

Connecting with small businesses………..

Battling through the current credit crunch is not much fun for anybody as we all know. Every day on the news you hear more gloom and doom stories, say Ralph Morton the Editor of Business Car Manager. www.businesscarmanager.co.uk

One thing has become quite clear however: all of a sudden small businesses are big news. It might have taken a financial crisis to get there, but at long last  the 4.6 million small businesses out there are starting to get some recognition from government, from the public, and sometimes, even the banks.

Much of the credit can be attributed to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). This tireless organisation is the UK’s largest SME campaigning pressure group. It promotes and protects the interests of the self-employed and small firm owners. It nags and argues the case with the government, constantly reminding Westminster that there’s more to business life than large plcs and FTSE 100 companies.

Currently there are over 215,000 FSB members. This includes the founder of Compare Contract Hire.com. The FSB does well because it makes the case intelligently and fully understands its market and the small business mindset. It recently advised small businesses to get more than one quote before purchasing any product or service to get value for money – good advice in these tough economic times and this can be applied to obtaining car or van contract hire leasing quotations but where do you start?

Small businesses will benefit financially and save time by using sites like CompareContractHire.com and by going direct to the vehicle finance company. There are multiple quotes available on the site, from several finance companies and as you will see prices do vary considerably at www.comparecontracthire.com potentially saving you hundreds of pounds over a three year contract.

For example on a quotation for a BMW 1 Series 118 Diesel 3 Door Step Auto on a three year contract, non maintained business contract hire lease rental , 10000 miles per annum, the least expensive rental showing is £300.00 per month and the most expensive rental quoted is £318.72 per month (exclusive of VAT), a difference of £18.72 per month.

Over a three year contract on a 3 + 35 payment plan i.e. 38 payments that equates to a potential £711.36 saving by using the site.

Comparecontracthire.com is the UK’s first vehicle contract hire leasing price comparison site targeting small businesses. The site also provides a wealth of information on motoring related matters and tries to simply vehicle contract hire jargon in what can be a complex subject.

New smaller Vehicle Excise Duty bands coming in April 2009

Monday, November 17th, 2008

It may seem a long way off but in April 2009 the number of vehicle excise duty bands will increase from seven to thirteen. Why should that bother you?

Well the new bands are again linked to CO2 g/km emissions with the intention of encouraging drivers to opt for smaller more fuel efficient vehicles.

Some key points are as follows.

- Choosing a less polluting vehicle will help the environment but will also help save you money if you are buying a vehicle as you will pay less Vehicle Excise Duty.

- If you are contract hiring the car then the finance company will factor into the monthly rental, what they  estimate the future VED charges will be. Choosing effectively now may mean you pay less on your business or personal contract hire monthly rental.

- From the 1st April 2010 ,if the legislation goes ahead, there will also be a first year rate tax for new cars with higher rates for the most polluting cars.

- For the least polluting cars i.e. less than 130 g/km or less the new first year charge will be zero

- For new cars that emit between 131 and 160 g/km the first year rate will be the same as the standard rate

Full details of the new changes are available at www.comparecontracthire.com/vehicle-excise-duty.php where the new rates have been laid out.

What are the top three best fuel combined MPG cars?

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Another first for Comparecontracthire.com is the unique search facility for cars and vans by combined MPG.

You can select the MPG range that you want your next car or van to achieve, choose the manufacturer as well and then see which models are the most economical from a combined MPG perspective.

Here are the differences between the fuel figures of urban, extra urban and combined mpg.

Combined MPG is the figure presented for the Urban Cycle and Extra- Urban cycle together. It is an average of these two tests weighted by the distance covered in each.

Urban cycle is carried out from a cold start (under laboratory conditions) in other words the engine has not run for several hours. The cycle consists of a series of accelerations, steady speeds, decelerations and idling. Maximum speed is 31 mph, average speed is 12 mph and the distance covered is 2.5 miles.

Extra- Urban cycle is conducted immediately after the Urban Cycle test and consists roughly half stead speed driving and the remainder accelerations, decelerations and idling. Maximum speed is 75 mph, average speed is 39 mph and the distance covered is 4.3 miles.

The top three cars on Comparecontracthire.com averaging over 70+ Combined MPG are as follows;

1) Seat Ibiza 1.4 TDi Diesel Ecomotive DPP at 74.3 MPG

2) Volkswagen Polo Diesel 1.4 Diesel Tdi 80 Hatchback at 74.3 MPG

3) Mini Cooper 1.6 D at 72.4 MPG

If these makes and models are not for you why not try www.comparecontracthire.com/quote/shop-by-mpg.php Just choose the Combined MPG range you are looking for and then the individual manufacturer, or even multiple manufacturers, and find out the most fuel economical vehicles.

Comparecontracthire.com is the UK’s first contract hire leasing price comparison site for small businesses and private individuals. Contract Hire is a form of long term rental and provides easy fixed cost cost motoring in these uncertain times.

Prices can be compared online from up to 12 finance companies and everything you need to know about business or personal contract hire is also explained on the site @ www.comparecontracthire.com

What are the cleanest CO2 cars with a Vehicle Excise Duty of Band A?

Monday, November 17th, 2008

The team at Comparecontracthire.com have looked at the unique CO2 shopper on the site to let you know what are the top four cleanest cars with a CO2 g/km rating of under a 100.

The lower CO2 rating you choose for your next car is an important consideration for the following reasons.

1) If you are buying the car then the lower the CO2 the less Vehicle Excise Duty you will pay.

2) For contract hire, this is normally included as part of the rental however again the lower the CO2, the lower the amount the contract hire company will build into the contract hire rental to cover this.

3) If you are a company car driver (and use the car for private usage) you will pay less personal tax if you choose a lower CO2 car.

4) Most importantly the lower the CO2 of your vehicle, the better it is for the environment so you can act on CO2 now by looking at www.comparecontracthire.com/quote/shop-by-co2.php

To make life easier for you the top four cars are as follows.

- Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCi Diesel Hatchback Econetic @ 98 g/km

- Seat Ibiza Diesel 1.4 TDi Ecomotive DPP @ 99 g/km

- Volkswagen Polo Diesel 1.4 Bluemotion TDi 80 @ 99 g/km

- Toyota IQ 1.0 Hatchback 1.0 VVT-i @ 99 g/km

If these models are not for you just use the CO2 shopper to select the manufacturer brand you like and see which one is the cleanest.

Saving fuel by Compare Contract Hire

Lower your petrol cost by getting better Fuel Economy

With the increasing pressure to reduce costs and improve efficiency both at work and in the home, it is becoming increasingly important to maximise your fuel economy and reduce your spending on petrol or diesel.

To begin with, it is very important to consider your driving style, as this can have a big impact on fuel economy.

Driving Style, what’s that got to do with the amount of fuel I use?

Well for a start,  keeping your car or van at a steady speed will reduce fuel consumption as the engine is under less strain and momentum will help the vehicle travel. As a general rule of thumb a one unit increase in speed requires a 3 unit increase in power consumption.

Don’t drive too fast, on motorways 56 mph is the optimum speed for fuel efficiency, this applies not just to cars but also to large vehicles like Vans and HGV’s. Driving at 90mph for example uses 45% more fuel than 56mph, and 35% more than travelling at 70mph.

Smooth and gradual accelerating and breaking will also preserve your fuel, avoiding sudden braking and accelerating improves the fuel efficiency. To accomplish this you really need to plan ahead and anticipate what is going to happen in front of you.

Another way to reduce the fuel you use is not to idle when you don’t have to, one minute of keeping the engine idling consumes more fuel than switching your engine on, so if you are going to be waiting for more than 30 seconds, switch it off.

Use less electrical power; the less electricity the vehicle generates, the less strain on the engine, the better your fuel economy. Air conditioning and lights during the day all contribute toward this.

Keep your vehicle light, you use less fuel by carrying a less weight so make sure that any unnecessary items are left out of the car, this includes roof racks (which can also decrease your aerodynamic profile) and remove any clutter in the boot (except of course for the essentials like spare tyres and car jack etc).

A well maintained Vehicle is a more efficient one

Check the pressure of your tyres on a regular basis, having the correct pressure in your tyres will decrease the drag coefficient of the vehicle and reduce the fuel you use, it has been estimated that under inflated tyres can increase you fuel usage by as much as 10%.

In addition to this make sure your engine is kept in tune and that your exhaust remains in good shape as this will also help conserve your fuel consumption.

Some modern Cars offer very good fuel economy

There are many fuel efficient vehicles available, and new models are becoming more and more efficient, however in a very busy market, it can be difficult to find the right choice, we offer a very useful tool on our home page that allows you to choose a car based on its fuel economy, check it out: www.comparecontracthire.com

Keep up to date by Hiring a vehicle on long term Lease

By choosing to have a long term rental vehicle (contract hire) you can replace this vehicle with a newer model when the contract expires and by doing this will be more likely to always have a new, more fuel efficient car, van or truck. In addition, repair and maintenance can be part of the package, making sure the vehicle remains in optimum condition. We at www.comparecontracthire.com  again offer a wide choice of vehicles, and as we take you direct to the vehicle Leasing company, you can be assured of a fair and independent assessment. Both Business and Personal contract hire leases are available.

Choose the right Vehicle to fit your Purpose

Choosing the right type of vehicle can go a long way to improving the fuel you use, there is little point using a transit van to drive to and from work for example. You should decide carefully the primary purpose the vehicle is intended for and make sure you choose on that fits as well as possible. For business vehicles this can be made easier by looking at this handy page www.comparecontracthire.com/vans-made-easy.php  as it lists the different size vans, their maximum payload and each vehicles use.

Plan your Journey before you Drive

When possible, planning the route you are going to take and the most efficient (legal) way to get there, you will use less fuel with the added benefit that your journey will take less time. Planning your journey around rush hours or peak travel times, when possible and avoiding traffic “hotspots” when you can’t, also helps a great deal.

Do you have more than one place to go? Combine your errands and plan your route accordingly so again you are not making more than one trip or travelling any further than necessary.
