Passat adds fresh appeal with R Line model
VW Passat R Line Estate
Volkswagen is revising its Passat saloon and Estate ranges adding a new R Line model offering customers even better value for money. The usual range line-up of S, Highline, Sport and SEL is steamlined to S, R Line and Highline. Of course BlueMotion remains the choice of efficiency and the R36 is the range topper performance car.
The R Line trim is based on the entry level S model and is available in the same engines. The key exterior exchanges are the addition of 17-inch “Monte Carlo” alloy wheels and an “R” styling pack adding striking front , side and rear skirts plus chrome louvres and grille surround, to give a more sporty feel.
VW Passat R Line
Inside you get cruise control, height adjustment and lumbar support on both front seats, a front centre armrest and leather multi-function steering wheel for extra comfort, plus an electronic tyre pressure monitoring system. These come on top of the standard accessories which include ABS with ESP, front, side and curtain airbags, Climate air conditioning, remote central locking with alarm and advanced radio/CD player with MP3 compatibility and AUX socket for connecting to an external source.
You get a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines. The 1.4-litre TSI 122 PS and the 1.8-litre 160 PS, plus two common rail TDI units producing 110 or 140 PS. With the higher diesel engine you can also have the option of a six-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
