Toyota Urban Cruiser now on sale
The new Toyota Urban Cruiser has now gone on sale in the UK offering drivers a rugged and muscular styling in a compact package. This B-segment hatchback crossover model offers three main attributes: Toyota’s proven experience in rugged all-road design (as demonstrated by the Toyota Land Cruiser 4×4 for example), the comfort and versatility of a hatchback and class leading fuel economy and low CO2 emissions.
The two engine options are the 100 bhp 1.3 Dual VVT-i Toyota Optimal Drive petrol engine with Stop & Start system and two wheel drive, plus the 89 bhp 1.4 D-4D Toyota Optimal Drive diesel with all-wheel drive. The petrol engine produces CO2 emissions of just 129g/km and the diesel 130g/km.
All models are equipped as standard with 16-inch high gloss alloy wheels, Bluetooth, automatic air conditioning, Smart Entry & Start for keyless entry and push button engine start-up, rear privacy glass and en electrochromic auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
The six-speaker audio system includes an Aux-in socket for connecting your personal music player and can playback MP3 files stored on disc. The leather trimmed steering wheel features additional controls to operate the music system and Bluetooth operation and the dashboard features Optitron instrumentation, with a radar screen style design for the concentric speedometer and tachometer displays. The rear seats also have a recline function, which on the AWD diesel version, also benefits from fore and aft slide adjustment.
It is worth noting that the 2WD Urban Cruiser the vehicle has a spare saver wheel but only a tyre repair kit on the AWD version. The technical specification for the new Urban Cruiser looks appealing and Toyota are expecting to sell approximately 2,500 models in the UK.
