In Alfa Romeo’s centenary year, the new Alfa Guilietta is set to be the forthcoming star at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The new Giulietta is the new five door hatchback from Alfa Romeo with strong Italian design features and dynamic driving and handling.

The new Giulietta will be available in May of this year and five versions will be at Geneva namely, two Quadrifoglio Verde (Cloverleaf)versions fitted with Alfa Romeo’s 235 HP 1750 TBi engine, two Distinctive versions with 170 HP 2.0 JTDm turbodiesels plus a Distinctive version fitted with the 170 HP 1.4 MultiAir Turbo petrol engine. Lexus CT 200h

Lexus will be unveiling their new premium compact model the Lexus CT 200h at the Geneva Motor Show. Powered with a Lexus Hybrid Drive powertrain using a 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol engine and powerful yet compact electric motor, this car is expected to offer class leasing emissions.

The CT 200h also has an EV (electric motor) mode that allows for ultra-quiet running on the electric motor alone and offers you zero emissions.

Mercedes-Benz Vito in electric mode

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the prototype for a battery powered Vito van that will enter production in 2010. During 2010, more than 100 Mercedes-Benx Vito vans will be delivered to 20 customers, mainly fleet and public sector institutions that wish to transport in environmentally sensitive zones with zero emissions.

The Mercedes-Benz Vito is powered by an electric motor of 90kW and has a limited top speed of 80km/h (approximately 48mph) and uses lithium-ion technology. All the Vito vans come with ESP as standard which incorporates ABS and ASR and there is no loss in payload or load volume compared to a conventionally powered Vito.

Jeep Wrangler Ultimate

Jeep has launched a special edition of the two-seater 4×4 Wrangler, called the Wrangler Ultimate with only 200 models to be made available in the UK.  This new 4×4 is based on the 2.8-litre CD Sahara and is available in five-speed automatic transmission.

Standard accessories include 18-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, cruise control, electric windows, suncreen glass, leather trimmed interior and unique “Wrangler Ultimate” badging, with an optional Ultimate accessory pack and state-of-the art Sound and Navigation system also available.

Porsche Cayenne range 2010

Porsche is unveiling the 2010 range of the Porsche Cayenne at The Geneva Motor Show in March, offering an increase in fuel economy of up to 23 per cent. The new Cayenne is 48mm longer than the previous model and the exterior design has been freshened up to offer a more compact and dynamic style. Inside the main new feature is the high quality rising centre console which gives the interior the typical Porsche “cockpit”. The new Cayenne range also sees the launch of an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission.

Step up to the Cayenne Turbo and you get air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Bi-xenon headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, tyre pressure monitoring, Porsche Communication Management with satellite navigation, BOSE audio system, heated seats and metallic paint.

Mercedes-Benz World

Mercedes-Benz has opened a new BlueEFFICIENCY exhibition at Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey. The  special “green” exhibition displays all the latest Mercedes-Benz BlueEFFICIENCY technology and is aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

The new hydrogen powered fuel cell development with the B-Class F-Cell is on show, with a cutaway version of the car showing off the innovation and technology for this zero emission vehicle. You can also visit the futuristic 360 degree interactive area, where other BlueEFFICIENCY technologies are on show including the DIESOTTO engine. This remarkable engine offers the power of a petrol engine with the efficiency of a diesel. 

Mercedes-Benz World is a great day out for the family and offers simulator rides, interactive displays, driving experiences and of course lots of Mercedes-Benz cars on show. In addition Young Driver Training is available to anyone over a height of 1.5 metres.

Land Rover

Land Rover has been showing its new 2010 range of vehicles at The Boat and Caravan Show, which has been held at the NEC in Birmingham and finishes on Sunday the 28th February. They have also unveiled the latest in towing technology with the new Trailair by Land Rover system.

The new system can be fitted to existing as well as new vehicles and is able to monitor tyre pressures through its unique technology. Tyre pressure monitoring valves are fitted to all the tyres and the tyre pressures are then displayed on screen, in the rear view mirror and if there is any decrease in pressure, an alarm sounds in the vehicle.

According to a recent study by UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) a 0.6 bar tyre under inflation can increase fuel consumption and emissions by up to 6% and reduce tyre life by 40%, so this looks a useful innovation if you are towing.

Land Rover is also showing the latest 2010 versions of the Range Rover, Discovery 4, Freelander 2, Defender and Range Rover Sport and you can also see a demonstration of Land Rover’s Tow Assist function, which helps perform towing manoeuvres.
