Audi is launching their new 3-door compact hatchback in May 2010, which will be positioned below the Audi A3 and looks set be a direct competitor for the MINI. Three advanced TFSI and TDI engines will be available initially featuring engine Start Stop and recuperation technology.
The engine ranges are as follows (data to be confirmed nearer launch date).
- 1.2 TFSI petrol offering 86PS, a combined mpg of 55.4 and CO2 emissions of 119g/km.
- 1.4 TFSI petrol offering 122PS, 55.4 combined mpg and CO2 emissions of 119g/km.
- 1.6 TDI diesel (105PS) returning 72.4 combined mpg and CO2 emissions of 102/gm.
Standard features includes alloy wheels, air conditioning, remote central locking, split folding rear seats, single CD audi system with MP3 compatibility and ESP with a differential lock system.
Performance figures for the above engines for a 0-62mph time is 12.1 seconds, 9.1 (with optional S tronic) and 10.8 seconds respectively.
The UK prices and full vehicle specifications have yet to be finalised and will probably be released after the Geneva Motor show where the car will be officially unveiled.
