New BMW X5 goes on sale in June of this year
The new BMW X5 Sports Activity Vehicle has received new design and engine changes for the 2010 model year and goes on sale in June of this year. Three new engines will be launched for the xDrive30d, xDrive40d (replacing the xDrive35d) and the xDrive50i (replacing the xDrive48i) with all three engines now meeting EU5 standards.
The entry level X5 xDrive30d has been upgraded to provide a sub 200g/km CO2 output, with emissions at 195g/km. This car reaches 0-62mph in just 7.6 seconds and onto a top speed of 130mph where permitted. Combined mpg is 38.2 and the vehicle is available in either SE or M Sport versions.
The xDrive40d reaches 0-62mph in 6.6 seconds, has a top speed of 147mph, CO2 emissions of 198g/km and a combined mpg of 37.7. The top of the range X5 xDrive50i numbers are 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds, top speed of 149 mph, CO2 emissions at 292g/km and a combined mpg of 22.6. Again both models come in SE or M Sport versions.
The exterior of the new model gets revised bumpers with enlarged vents, matt aluminium scuff plates and vent fins, new Xenon headlights (with white LED corona rings) plus more centralised fog lights completing the front end changes. At the rear the car gets enlarged tailpipes and a re-designed rear bumper.
Standard options include eight-speed automatic transmission, leather upholstery (for the first time) plus Servotronic steering. The new BMW X5 will go on sale on the 5th June 2010 and BMW car leasing prices will be loaded shortly.
