Ford

Ford is the official vehicle suplier to the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest which will be held in Oslo, Norway on Saturday. They are providing a fleet of 40 vehicles to transport organisers, artists and celebrities to be used around the event.

The vehicle line-up includes the new S-MAX and Galaxy, Mondeo, Kuga and Transit Buses and all the fleet are either painted white or black wth the Eurovision Song Contest logo “Share the Moment” on the side. Hanne Krogh is pictured handing over the keys and was a member of the Norwegian group, Bobbysocks, which won the event in 1985.

Megane Coupe-Cabriolet

Renault has announced the pricing for their new Megane Coupe-Cabriolet which will be in showrooms from the 9th of July 2010. The new Megane Coupe-Cabriolet has a high specification including 17-inch alloys, Bluetooth, panoramic electric glass folding roof, fixed wind deflector, hands free keycard and fully integrated Carminat TomTom satellite navigation.

There are six engine and transmission combinations and two trim levels, Dynamique TomTom and GT, with the new GT versions featuring either a 2.0-litre turbo-charged 180p petrol engine or a 2.0 dCi 160hp diesel. Volkswagen Golf 2.0 TDi SE 140bhp

New Mazda6

The Mazda6 is updated this month with the introduction of a new 19-strong model range offering better fuel economy (by up to 6.4%) and lower CO2 emissions (up to 6.1 %). Business fleets and company car drivers now have a choice of hatchback and estate versions, as the saloon model is no longer available. There are three petrol engine options and three diesel engines, with four equipment levels namely S, TS, TS2 and Sport.

New Mazda6

Upgraded equipment includes “smart ” turn indicators and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) for the S grade and all other models. The TS (and all upward models) gets a rear spoiler, the TS2 (and upwards) gets front and rear parking sensors and Hill Hold Assist (HHA) and the Sport gets swivel-type AFS front lights. Most “essential need” company car drivers will probably lean towards the 2.2D 129ps in TS trim which now emits 138g/km. Mazda contract hire prices will be loaded shortly.

The award winning Peugeot 3008 Crossover has been updgraded to offer a more powerful 163bhp HDi diesel engine with a six-speed automatic gearbox and will be avalable in Sport and Exclusive trim levels. The new engine is a development on the old 2.0-litre 136bhp HDi diesel engine, featured in other Peugeot models, and is now Euro 5 emission standards compliant.

This new model is only available with the 163bhp HDi engine and returns a combined mpg figure of 42.8 and a CO2 emissions of 173g/km. Standard specification on both models includes 17-inch alloy wheels with energy saver tyres, rear parking aid, cruise control, radio / CD player with MP3 playback, full body coloured body exterior, air conditioning, six airbags, ESP, ABS with EBFD  and a multi-flex interior, to name just a few.

163bhp diesel + six-speed auto

The Exclusive model adds a panoramic glass sunroof,visibility pack (automatic headlamp and wipers), head-up display, distance alert, rear side window sun blinds, dual zone digital air-conditioning plus much more. Peugeot contract hire prices will be loaded as soon as possible.

SEAT Exeo Tech

SEAT, the sporty Spanish car manufacturer, has launched their best ever specified cars yet with the arrival of the new SEAT Exeo Tech models which are brimming with extra equipment. The new models joins the existing range of S, SE, Sport and SE Lux versions. For example Sat-nav, black leather upholstery and a BOSE premium sound system are now standard on all Tech models.

BMW 320d EfficientDynamics

A BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Saloon made it to Munich, from filling up at the Channel Tunnel, on one tank of fuel which was a staggering 1,103 miles. This is the same distance as driving from Land’s End to John O’Groats with over 200 miles to spare.

The driver, TV Presenter Tom Ford, also drove the car without using efficient driving techniques, like coasting, or driving slowly with slow acceleration, making this an even more remarkable achievement. The BMW 320d EfficicientDynamics has an official combined mpg of 68.9 and emits only 105g/km, however Tom managed to achieve highs of 75.9mpg along the way. 

Tom said, “I was prepared for this car to fail in the real world. I was wrong. Although I did try and be careful and drive in a feather-footed manner, I did cruise at a reasonable 65ish on the autoroutes and autobahns, so faster than the usual economy run pace”. The BMW 320d EfficientDynamics has a 0-62mph time of 8.2 seconds and onto a top speed of 137mph where permitted so this car is “no slouch”. Face Facts campaign

The Fleet Safety Forum, a division of Brake (the road safety charity), has launched a new campaign to try to ensure fleet drivers are not under the influence of alchohol or drugs behind the wheel, with a new campaign called “Face Facts”.

The hard hitting poster shows a driver’s face split in half, on the one side unaffected by drugs or alchohol and on the other the side with the tell tale signs. Brake research has shown that at-work drivers are a high risk category for drink and drug driving with more than twice as many at-work drivers admitting to drinking three or more units of alcohol the night before. They also found that nearly a third of at-work drivers admitted to driving first thing after having drunk a lot of alcohol the night before, compared to a fifth of other drivers. One in three drivers also admitted to drug driving.

The Face Facts campaign pack is available free of charge to the first 50 companies who order it and thereafter subscription to the Fleet Safety Forum is available at £90 a year.

Citroen

Citroen is supporting the BT Paralympic World Cup, which is the world’s largest annual multi-site elite disability event, with over 300 competitiors from more than 31 countries taking part. The four sport disciplines they compete in are Wheelchair Basketball, Football 7-a- side, Swimming and Athletics and the competition will be staged in Manchester from the 25th to the 31st May.
