Land Rover launches new efficient 2011 Freelander 2
Land Rover has upgraded their Freelander 2 for 2011 with a new 150PS or 190PS diesel engine available, with stronger performance and improved fuel efficiency throughout the range. The 2.2-litre 150PS TD4 manual for example has improved CO2 by 8% to 165g/km and in fuel economy by 9% to 45.6mpg.
The new Freelander 2 gets a revised exterior with a new front bumper with new front fog bezels, a new front grille, new width full tailgate plus three new colour schemes ( Kosrae Green, Baltic Blue and Fuji White). The car also has new alloy wheel options too (18-inch or 19-inch).
There are also numerous interior tweaks and new instrument dials and a new frugal eD4 model is also added, offering 47.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 158g/km of CO2, which is just under the 160g/km tax threshold. Choosing your next company car with a low CO2 will affect your P11D taxable benefit, so this model will be appealing to company car drivers.
Phil Popham, managing director Land Rover said, “The new Freelander 2 eD4 moves Land Rover into the hugely popular and highly contested two-wheel drive SUV market. The European market for two-wheel drive SUVs represents 23 per cent of the segment and we intend to compete strongly there”.
