Register now to receive free materials to support tyre safety month
Garages, vehicle fleets and tyre retailers and any other interested organisations are being invited to register for free point of sale materials to support October’s tyre safety month. Last year’s campaign was a great success and was built around using a 20p coin to check your tyre tread depth.
If you insert a 20p coin into the main grooves of a tyre, if the outer rim of the coin is visible the tyres may be illegal. Current UK law requires drivers to have a minimum of 1.6mm of tread depth across the central three-quarters of the tyre, around its whole circumference. If your tyre is illegal you could receive a fine of up to £2,500 and three penalty points for each illegal tyre.
If you run a fleet of vehicles and want to receive materials from TyreSafe (the non-profit organisation dedicated to tyre safety and awareness) just visit their website and register, or call the campaign hotline on 0845 301 6852.
