Side View assist

The blind spot assistant, Side View Assist, is set to debut in the new Citroen C4 and has been developed by Bosch. The system helps drivers when they are changing lanes and warns them of any potential dangers, using ultrasonic sensors mounted in the sides of the vehicle’s front and rear bumpers.

The Side View Assist system registers objects three metres away to the side and diagonally to the rear of the vehicle, which means it covers the “blind spot” areas you normally get when driving your car. The system can warn you in two ways, first optically and then if the driver fails to react, acoustically. The speed range is between 10kph and 140kph and outside of that range the system doesn’t warn drivers so therefore it works best in urban areas and in complex traffic situations, where relative speeds are slow.

Lexus CT 200h

Lexus has released the prices and vehicle specifications for their Lexus CT 200h luxury full hybrid which will be available in three equipment grades – SE-I, SE-L and SE-L Premier. This luxury full hybrid emits only 94g/km of CO2, offers you 68.9 combined mpg and on-the-road-pricing starts from £23,485 for the SE-I (VAT at 20%).

The Lexus CT 200h SE-I has dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth, 17-inch alloy wheels, push button start,wipers and LED daytime running lights as standard options.

Ford Transit Connect Electric

The new Ford Transit Connect Electric is due to participate in the RAC Future Car Challenge which rewards competitors that use the least energy on a 60 mile route from Brighton to Regent Street. Ford is also entering the ECOnetic versions of the Ford Fiesta Van and the Ford Focus, both of which emit less than 100g/km of CO2 and exceed more than 70mpg.

The Transit Connect Electric is a zero-emission, pure-electric powered version of the standard Transit Connect light commercial vehicle and will go on sale in Europe in 2011. The van has a range of 80 miles and a top speed of 75mph and can be charged via a standard power outlet with an onboard converter charging the lithium ion battery pack. A full charge of the batteries takes ten hours using a household 230 volt supply.

C3 Picasso Blackcherry

The C3 Picasso is Citroen‘s multi award-winning supermini MPV and the new model year is getting some updates from the 1st November 2010. The new C3 Picasso model year is now available with a new Euro 5 HDi 110 engine and 6-speed transmission, plus Connecting Box (USB and Bluetooth connectivity) is a standard specification on the VTR+ and Exclusive trim levels.

The special edition Citroen C3 Picasso Blackcherry is based on the VTR+ model and will be available in a smart cherry red and glossy black exterior, with similar detailing inside the car. You also get 17-inch cherry red diamond-tipped alloy wheels, air conditioning, cruise control with speed limiter, the Connecting Box, electrically adjustable door mirrors and front electric windows. Powered by the Euro 5 1.6HDi 110hp diesel engine the car emits 125g/km of CO2 and returns 59mpg on the combined fuel cycle. New Jetta

The new Volkswagen Jetta which made its debut in New York earlier this year, has now been shown at an event held at FC Bayern Munich, the Allianz Arena. The new Jetta has a front grille similar to the Phaeton, with strong horizontal fins and has clean and simple lines. The car also features many of the new design changes seen on the Polo, Passat and Sharan.

Styling changes continue inside the cabin bringing the new Jetta in line with the Golf’s centre console plus there have been updates to the entertainment, climate control system and steering wheel design. The Jetta has also grown in length by 90 mm and provides an increase of 67mm increase in rear legroom over the outgoing car.

The range includes a pair of 1.4-litre TSI petrol engines developing 122 PS and 160 PS, plus two diesel engines, one with a 1.6-litre TDI 105 PS and a 2.0-litre developing 140 PS. The 1.6-litre TDI will also feature BlueMotion Technology including Stop/Start and battery regeneration.

This practical saloon car seats five adults comfortably and has a large 510 litre loadspace and a comprehensive range of standard safety features including six airbags, ABS and ESP. The car will be available in early 2011 when prices and full vehicle specifications will be announced. In the meantime all other Volkswagen business car leasing prices are on the site now.
