Rolls-Royce confirms ultra-luxury Electric Vehicle test car
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has confirmed that a one-off, fully electric powered Phantom, codenamed 102EX, will be unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The Rolls-Royce Phantom electric vehicle will then undertake a global tour that will take in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America that will serve as a working test bed for the car.
The Phantom 102EX is also known as the Phantom Experimental Electric (EE) and Rolls-Royce CEO, Torsten Muller-Otvos, said,”We have engineered the world’s first battery electric vehicle for the ultra-luxury segment. With this vehicle, we begin an exploration into alternative drive-trains, seeking clarity on which alternative technologies may be suitable to drive Rolls-Royce motor cars of the future”.
Full vehicle technical specifications and images for the 102EX will be published on the 1st March 2011 and a new website @ www.electricluxury.com is also being launched this week.
