Jaguar unveils 2012 XF, XFR and XK at New York Auto Show
Jaguar has unveiled the updated 2012 XF compact saloon at the New York International Auto Show 2011, with fresh styling changes and an innovative entry-level powertrain that looks set to be the most efficient Jaguar yet produced.
The new XF has an all-new look to the front end plus a lower bonnet line and slim new LED headlight units, drawing on design cues from the XJ series. The rear tail lamp units have also been redesigned with LED technology and extend further into the boot lid. The interior has also been given a subtle refresh including new seats.
However it’s under the bonnet that the new changes look set to impress with a new four-cylinder diesel engine available for the first time. The 2.2-litre common rail diesel unit produces 190 PS and is linked to the new ZF automatic gearbox with an innovative Stop-Start system. The result of this is combined mpg in excess of 50mpg and CO2 emissions of 149g/km.
The range-topping XFR also gets the new look adoped by the XF but takes it a step further with a trio of deep airdams dominating the front of the car. There are new sill extensions framed by redesigned 20-inch wheels and at the rear, new lights sit above the newly designed bumper with a subtle diffuser as well. Jaguar is also showcasing the updated XK series at the show.
