New Audi A1 Quattro

Audi has released the full details about their new limited edition Audi A1 Quattro, all-wheel-drive, premium sub-compact car, with only 333 exclusive (left-hand drive only) models being made worldwide. The Audi A1 Quattro is aiming to set the standards in terms of performance in the subcompact class with a 0-62mph time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 152mph.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre TFSI engine delivering 265PS and power is transmitted via a quick-shifting six-speed manual gearbox to the permanent quattro all-wheel drive. The car is 33 millimetres longer than the “standard” Audi 1 on which it is based and luggage capacity is 210 litres which increases to 860 litres with the rear seats folded.

It comes in Glacier White metallic only, with 18-inch turbine design alloy wheels also in Glacier White and a high gloss black roof. The front and rear bumpers, grille and its frame have an exclusive design plus it features red painted “wings” within the headlights, a large two-colour rear spoiler and two large polished exhaust tailpipes.

Other exterior finishing touches include tinted LED rear lights, tinted rear windows, contrasting black colouring for the rear hatch and rear diffuser plus the usual quattro badges on the grille, roof arch and rear hatch.

Inside the car the instrument cluster includes white needles, red-faced speedometer, quattro logo, colour Driver’s Information System (DIS), flat-bottomed leather trimmed steering wheel, aluminium shift lever knob and the car’s serial number.

Standard equipment is high with Xenon plus headlights, high-beam assistant, adaptive brake lights, LED lighting package, light and rain sensors, acoustic rear parking system, automatic air conditioning, Infotainment kit including CD changer, DAB digital radio, hard disk based MMI navigation and Bose sound system, to name just a few.

The left hand-drive Audi A1 quattro will only be available in mainland Europe in the second half of 2012 and no decision has been made as yet as to whether this model is coming to the UK. However we do have Audi A1 contract hire on all other models on the site now.

Audi A1 Sportback

Audi has released details about their new Audi A1 Sportback which now boasts five doors and five seats for greater versatility and flexibility. The new five-door version of the Audi A1 subcompact car will be available to order later this month and has a premium of £560 over the three-door, with first deliveries expected in the spring of 2012. 

The A1 Sportback is six millimetres taller and six millimetres wide than the standard three-door Audi A1 and inside offers slightly more headroom and shoulder room as a result. It also offers three seats in the back which is great news for passenger comfort and each seat has a headrest and full three-point seatbelt. Luggage capacity is the same as the three-door Audi A1 at 270 litres, or 920 litres with the rear seats folded.

The Audi A1 Sportback will be available with four advanced, ultra-efficient TFSI and TDI engines in the UK, namely;

• 1.2 TFSI petrol (86ps)
• 1.4 TFSI petrol (122PS)
• 1.4 TFSI twin-charge petrol (185PS)
• 1.6 TDI diesel (105PS)

If it’s fuel efficiency and lowest CO2 emissions you are looking for then opt for the diesel which promises 74.3mpg and CO2 emissions at just 99g/km. Audi is also planning to launch a 2.0-litre TDI (143PS) later in the summer.

Standard features across the range (SE, Sport and S line) include alloy wheels, split/folding rear seat, front and rear electric windows, air conditioning, single CD audio system with MP3 compatibility and ESP with the latest differential lock system.

Audi A1 has won the Best Small Car award at the 2011 Fleet World Honours ceremony which was held at the RAC Club in Pall Mall. This marks the Audi A1′s second fleet award in 2011 and the fifth award of the year.

The Audi A1 subcompact hatchback was been awarded the title of Best Small Hatchback by the Parkers New Car Awards. The awards are judged by the “cost of motoring” tool on the Parkers site, which visitors can use to calculate the costs of buying and running a new car, or used car. A bunch of celebrities were the first UK drivers to get behind the wheel on UK roads last Saturday, in the Audi A1 Drive Away. New Audi A1

The new Audi A1 is launching today across Germany and will be available in other mainland European countries in mid-September. We will have to wait until November for the Audi A1 to reach UK shores, however you should place your Audi contract hire order now to avoid a long wait for your vehicle.

The car will be launched with three engines, the 1.2 TFSI, the 1.4 TFSI and the 1.6 TDI diesel, plus all cars feature direct injection, turbocharging with a start-stop system with braking energy recovery, for efficient fuel consumption and  low CO2 figures. Audi scooped the “Reader Award- Most Exciting Car” for the forthcoming compact Audi A1. The new prodution-ready A1 will be officially launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010 with UK deliveries expected towards the end of 2010.
