Volkswagen Eos BlueMotion

Volkswagen has introduced a new BlueMotion version of their convertible Eos with a highly efficient 1.4-litre TSI 122PS model, which can be ordered in either S or SE trims.

This is the first time that BlueMotion technologies have been fitted to a petrol engine so regenerative braking, start/stop and hill hold systems alongside a visual gearchange recommendation are all fitted as standard. This results in a combined mpg figure of 45.6 and a CO2 figure of 144g/km. Performance remains good with a 0-62mph time of 10.9 seconds and onto a top speed of 121mph (where permitted).

The standard trim level is comprehensive with ESP, twin front and side impact airbags, Climatic air conditioning, fog lights, electric windows, electric heated and adjustable wing mirrors, radio CD player, 16-inch alloy wheels and sliding/tilt sunroof as some of the standard options. The SE adds 17-inch alloy wheels, leather steering wheel and front sport seats, parking sensors, automatic headlights and dusk and rain sensors. New Golf BlueMotion

Volkswagen has launched a new Golf Bluemotion that offers a combined fuel economy of 74.3mpg and a CO2 emissions figure of only 99g/km.

The new Golf BlueMotion uses the standard Golf 1.6-litre TDI common rail diesel engine (105PS) and the car accelerates from 0-62mph in 11.3 seconds and onto a top speed of 118mph.

The car also gets a sports styling kit to improve aerodynamics and boost fuel efficiency even further. This kit consists of sports bumpers, side skirts, an enlarged rear roof spoiler, 15-inch “Wellington” alloy wheels, cherry red rear lights, chrome grille louvres and Golf BlueMotion badges at the front and rear.

As with all Golfs the safety features include ABS with ESP and seven airbags plus this model also has other accessories like Climatic semi-automatic climate control and a RCD 210 radio/MP3 compatible CD player. Volkswagen car leasing prices on this new model will be available shortly.

Golf Estate

Volkswagen has extended the Golf range by adding a new Golf Estate version to its ever popular car. The car itself is much sharper, sportier and more comfortable than the outgoing model and will be available in car showrooms in November.

This new estate has a new front bumper, body coloured rear bumper, fresh new wheel designs, modified tail lights and inside you get a new dashboard and revised upholsteries.

The range starts with the S, SE and Sportline trim levels plus a BlueMotion low emissions model as well. In the BlueMotion version with a 105 PS 1.6-litre TDI common rail diesel engine you will get circa 67.3mpg on the combined fuel cycle and a class leading 109g/km CO2 emissions output.

There are five engines being offered, two petrol and three diesel with the entry level petrol model 1.2 TSI 105 PS being available in the spring of next year. The other petrol model, the 1.4-litre TSI 122 PS is out now. In the diesel versions there are two 1.6-litre TDI units producing 90 PS (out next spring) or the 105 PS version plus a more powerful 2.0-litre TDI 140 PS. Golf BlueMotion

Volkswagen will show three versions of their new highly fuel and CO2 efficient BlueMotion cars at Frankfurt. The new Polo, Golf and Passat BlueMotion models emit only 87g/km, 99g/km and 114g/km respectively, of CO2 emissions, making all three highly attractive to any company or individual looking at reducing their overall motoring costs.

Volkswagen claims each variant is capable of travelling a minimum of 840k/m (approximately 504 miles) on a single tank of fuel as well.

The Polo BlueMotion is the most efficient and is powered by an all-new 1.2-litre common rail diesel engine producing 75PS. This remarkable engine coupled with Stop-Start systems , regenerative braking and longer gearing helps the car achieve a “money saving” combined fuel consumption of 85.6 mpg.

Passat BlueMotion

The Golf BlueMotion with a 1.6-litre TDI diesel engine offers 74.3 mpg on the combined cycle and the Passat BlueMotion (with the 1.6-litre engine) returns 64.2mpg. All models will go on sale in the early part of 2010.

New VW Polo

Volkswagen has released the prices for its new Polo model with deliveries expected from the 16th October 2009, if you order soon. This new car is stronger, safer, comfortable and more efficient and bears a strong resemblance to the Golf. This is now the fifth generation in this supermini’s history since being launched 34 years ago.

The car will initially be available in a choice of five engines- three petrol and two diesel. Two naturally aspirated 1.2-litre petrol engines (with 60 PS or 70 PS) plus a 1.4-litre 85PS. The two diesel models are common rail 1.6-litre TDI units producing 75 or 90 PS and all engines comply with EURO V emissions legislation. In early 2010, Volkswagen are also launching a new 1.2-litre 105 PS turbocharged TSI unit.

The new Polo is offered in four different trim levels plus an A/C (for climate control) model as well. The four models are S, Moda (for a younger audience), SE and SEL at the top of the range. You will have to wait until 2010 before the GTI and BlueMotion models are available however. Safety equipment is strong with all models getting airbags and for the time ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme) as standard. Volkswagen and the Chinese carmaker, BYD ” Build Your Dreams” have signed a memorandum of understanding to look at partnership in the area of electric mobility. The Chinese delegation first met with Volkswagen at the Elektrotraktion Technology Centre in Isenbuttel and then at the test tracks at Wolfsburg.

The two parties had technical discussions and test drives with a variety of vehicles such as the Golf twinDrive and the prototype for an electric vehicle. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Board for Technical Development at Volkswagen said “Volkswagen will consistently expand its successful BlueMotion Technologies. Hybrids and electric vehicles will play an increasingly important role of course. Particularly for the Chinese market, potential partners such as BYD could support us in quickly expanding our activities”.

New Volkswagen Polo

The New Volkswagen Polo is launched at the Geneva Motor Show offering a lighter and even cleaner car albeit being wider and longer than the previous model. The larger dimensions offer greater space inside including better head, shoulder and legroom.

The new Polo is powered by a combination of a 1.2 litre and 1.4 litre petrol engines (with a new turbocharged 1.2 TSI unit) plus a 1.6-litre TDi diesel engine. A new Polo BlueMotion model will join the range after launch offering 74 combined mpg and just 96 g/km of Co2.
