Land Rover launches new efficient 2011 Freelander 2

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010
New Land Rover Freelander 2 2011 has a new eD4 model available

New Land Rover Freelander 2 2011 model

Land Rover has upgraded their Freelander 2 for 2011 with a new 150PS or 190PS diesel engine available, with stronger performance and improved fuel efficiency throughout the range. The 2.2-litre 150PS TD4 manual for example has improved CO2 by 8% to 165g/km and in fuel economy by 9% to 45.6mpg.

The new Freelander 2 gets a revised exterior with a new front bumper with new front fog bezels, a new front grille, new width full tailgate plus three new colour schemes ( Kosrae Green, Baltic Blue and Fuji White). The car also has new alloy wheel options too (18-inch or 19-inch).

There are also numerous interior tweaks and new instrument dials and a new frugal eD4 model is also added, offering 47.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 158g/km of CO2, which is just under the 160g/km tax threshold. Porsche develops programme to offer electric sports cars

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010
Porsche develops cars with electric drive and continues in hybrid programme

Porsche Boxster

Porsche has announced a new programme that will develop electric Porsche sports cars in the future. Based on the Boxster roadster, the tests will begin in early 2011 and will help research user behaviour and the infra-structure necessary for electro-mobility.

There will be three all-electric drive Porsche Boxsters in the field tests and Porsche will continue to develop its hybrid powertrain as well. Michale Macht, the President and Chief Executive of Porsche AG commented,”We will definitely be offering an electric sports car in future. But such a concept only makes sense if it offers performance and a cruising range comparable to that of a sports car today”.

The Porsche hybrid powertrain programme for the Cayenne and Panamera will continue alongside the development of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid race car and 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid concept. The 911 GT3 R Hybrid will race in the American Le Mans Series at Road Atlanta on October the 2nd and will then travel to China for the six-hour Le mans International Cup at Zuhai. Porsche business contract hire for the current range is also available now, if you are interested in leasing a Porsche now.

BBC’s Fake Britain warns of Cloned Cars and Bikes

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

HPI checkwill tell you if your car is cloned

The BBC’s Fake Britain has warned that many criminals are now cloning cars (plus motorbikes) and HPI is warning all used car buyers to be vigilant against this threat. Cloning is the “identity fraud” of the motoring world and simply a vehicle is stolen and given the identity of a similar vehicle already on the road. The unique 17-digit VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is disguised and also they will use a stolen V5 document as well.

HPI has the following advice to avoid buying a used car clone;

  1. Location – if you are buying privately make sure you view it at the registered keeper’s address (as shown on the V5 registration document).
  2. Provenance – always check the history of the car or bike. Check that the VIN number on the vehicle and on the V5 are the same and that they match the VIN on an HPI check.
  3. Documents – make sure the V5, the MOTs and the service history are with the vehicle (if it is over three years old for the MOT). The HPI check will check if the V5 has been stolen.
  4. Price – know the market value of the vehicle. If you paying 30% less than what the car or bike is really worth then you should be on your guard.
  5. Payment- don’t pay with a substantial amount of cash if the vehicle costs more than £3,000. Some criminals will take a bankers draft as part-payment with the high cash deposit and then disappear because the cash is sufficient profit.

Many small businesses prefer to buy their cars however business contract hiring a new vehicle is much more easier and by dealing with a reputable vehicle leasing company, you can ensure you know what you are getting. All you do is keep the vehicle for the time period you want i.e. three years and then hand it back at the end.
