Volkswagen Caddy Match

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has just launched a new special edition Volkswagen Caddy, called the Caddy Match. The Caddy Match is only available until the 30th April 2012 and features additional specification over the standard model as follows.

• Bluetooth connectivity
• Trip computer
• Electric windows
• Electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors
• Cruise control
• Body-coloured bumpers and wing mirrors
• Wheel trims

It is available in the standard Caddy and the long wheelbase Caddy Maxi (except 4MOTION and EcoFuel models) and has a range of Euro5 emissions compliant 1.6-litre or 2.0-litre TDi engines plus Bluemotion technology.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has just picked up three awards for their Caddy and Transporter vans, plus the overall title of Fleet Van of the Year (for the Transporter), at the Fleet Van Awards 2011. This follows on from winning three van categories in the 2012 What Van? Awards.

The Caddy was voted Small Van of the Year by Fleet Van and the Transporter, Medium Panel Van of the Year with Trevor Gelken, editor of Fleet Van, commenting,”With new engines, a range that the others can’t match, rock solid residual values and superb dealer back-up, the Volkswagen Caddy knocked last year’s winner of its perch into second place”.

Volkswagen Transporter

On the Transporter, he said,”Such is the legendary might of this van, which dates back to the 1950s, that it wins Medium Van of the Year again- as it has done every year since our awards began. The judges could find nothing to touch it in the sector”.

Alastair Hemmings, National Fleet Manager at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said,”What more can I say? Renault Kangoo Z.E.

The Renault Kangoo Z.E. has just been voted International Van of the Year 2012 by a jury of 22 European journalists who specialise in reviewing light commercial vehicles. The Kangoo Z.E is a 100%-electric van and this is the first time an electric commercial vehicle has won this award.

The Kangoo Z.E saw off competition from some other well known brands including the Iveco Daily, Fiat Ducato and Volkswagen Caddy and was chosen for its zero-emission virtues as well as for its practicality and economical qualities. The Kangoo Z.E has a load volume ranging from 3 cubic metres to 4.6  cubic metres and also keeps the same payload as the standard Kangoo, at 650kg.

The Kangoo Z.E comes in two lengths and three versions and will be arriving in UK dealerships in the 1st December, priced from £16,990 excluding VAT. Contract hire prices on the Kangoo Z.E will be on the site shortly.

Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion

The Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion has just added another green award to its bulging trophy cabinet having been named as Green Vehicle of the Year at the 2011 AFCO Fleet Awards last week. ACFO (Association of Car Fleet Operators) is the UK’s largest body representing UK businesses which run fleets of cars or commercial vehicles.

The Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion offers a combined fuel economy of 74.3mpg and emits just 99g/km of CO2 and this award comes shortly after What Car? named the BlueMotion “small green family car” and Auto Express gave the car its Green Award honour.

The Volkswagen Passat and Golf models were also shortlisted for the ACFO Fleet Car of Year award and the Volkswagen Caddy was nominated in the Small Van of the Year category. Volkswagen contract hire is on the site now for all models.

Volkswagen Transporter

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has reported a rise in their sales for the first half of this year with a 16% increase in vehicle registrations, with around 2,400 commercial vehicles being registered. All its van ranges have been updated over the last 18 months and they have also introduced the new Amarok pick-up which looks set to be a success as well.

The new Caddy was also the best selling van in the 2,001 to 2,499kg class, making it Volkswagen’s best selling van this year, just in front of the Transporter. Crafter sales were also strong and 240 Amaroks have been registered this year -to-date.

Volkswagen Sharan

If you ever wanted to know which the best car manufacturer is for security then Volkswagen has just won the top accolade for the second year running at the 2011 British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards (BIVSA). All the awards were presented by Thatcham, the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre, based in Berkshire.

The new Volkswagen Sharan, which went on sale, last year picked up the title in the Large MPV class, the Tiguan was the winner in the Crossover class and the Phaeton won the best Luxury Car for the fourth time since the awards started eight years ago. In the commercial vehicles section, the Caddy won the Light Van category and the newly launched Amarok pick-up was named as the most secure Pick Up LCV.

All the vehicles were judged on a number of criteria which were identified by the creators of the New Vehicle Security Ratings (NVSR) scheme. The vehicles that had a maximum five stars for “theft from”, had double locking and an “E”  insurance suffix (which indicates they had a feature that exceeds the required standard) were shortlisted for the final evaluation and ranking.

Mike Briggs, Vehicle Security Manager at Thatcham, said,”Volkswagen UK continues to push for supremacy within the British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards and should be commended for its tenacity in devising security solutions to design out crime and make its vehicles more secure”. VW Amarok

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has reported that following its appearance at the CV Show 2011, it has seen a greater increase in sales enquiries and test drive requests, than the last time it appeared at the show, in 2008.

Star of the VW stand was the new UK version of the Amarok pick-up, supported by the Caddy and Transporter van ranges, plus there was also entertainment on hand with the opportunity to play darts with darts champions, James Wade and Mark Webster.

New Volkswagen Crafter van

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has just released the first details of the new Crafter van, which was originally launched five years ago. The new models will feature Volkswagen’s latest four-cylinder, 2.0-litre common rail TDI engines, offering the same power as the existing model but providing increased torque, better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.

The new 2.0 TDI engines have already been proven in the new Amarok pick-up, Caddy and Transporter and initial CO2 emissions could be low as 195g/km, with running costs forecasted to fall by 25%. The new Crafter van will have a refreshed exterior (new front grille) plus the interior will get new upholstery and redesigned instruments. Production on the new Crafter should start later this summer when we should have Volkswagen van leasing prices on the model loaded.

Volkswagen Caddy

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has scooped three van awards at the VansA2Z Van of the Year 2011 awards, including winning the top prize of Van of the Year for the new Caddy.

The Volkswagen Caddy also won the category for Best Light Van and the Transporter picked up the Best Small Panel Van award. Simon Elliott, Director,Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK, said,”We’ve already started 2011 with sales up 70 per cent over last year, and with these awards helping to endorse the Caddy and Transporter as the best vans in their class, this success looks set to continue”.

Volkswagen Golf

The Volkswagen Golf has recently picked up another award winning the ACFO Fleet Car of the Year award from the Association of Car Fleet Operators for the fourth consecutive year.

ACFO chairman, Julie Jenner, said,”The awards may have been given a new-look in 2010 but they continue to represent the true face of fleet operations. More than 130 nominations were received across the seven categories underlining the breadth of competition there is in today’s fleet market”. Volkswagen also fared well on some of the other categories with the Golf BlueMotion named runner-up in the Green Car of the Year category and the Caddy van featuring as runner-up in the Small Van of the Year sector.
