Volkswagen has been voted Fleet Van Manufacturer of the Year by the judges at the Fleet Van Awards 2010, with the judges commenting that Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles offers “the best brand value for fleets”. Volkswagen also won an award for the Medium Panel Van of the Year for their new Transporter, which was launched earlier this year. The Volkswagen Caddy and Crafter vans also made it to the finals of the Small Van of the Year and Large Panel Van of the Year.

Volkswagen vans

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has delivered the first of 2,000 vans to British Gas in their new livery, cyan blue. The new design is part of British Gas’ ongoing modernisation of their brand and business.

The new Volkswagen vans will be used by British Gas engineers and energy experts across the UK on the average 10,000 service checks a day that they perform. The vans are also fitted with speed limiters and racking to help control any load if they have to brake heavily and British Gas is also trialling a Transporter Shuttle minibus. The 2,000 order includes a mixture of Volkswagen Caddy, Caddy Maxi and a Crafter dropside and will be now added to the British Gas vehicle fleet of around 10,000.

British Gas Volkswagen vans

The Caddy and Caddy Maxi vans have load volumes from 3.2 cubic metres and return 54.3 mpg on the extra urban cycle making them efficient as well as practical. Simon Elliott, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles said,”We are pleased to see that the quality, durability and cost effective running costs of Volkswagen vans have passed the formidable British Gas acceptance criteria”.

Volkswagen fixed price servicing

Volkswagen Vans has introduced a fixed price servicing offer across the UK, to encourage more van drivers to use their servicing centres. If you drive your Volkswagen van on a non-maintained contract hire arrangement you are responsible for all servicing and therefore this new offer may save you money.

Interim and full services are available for all Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles at all Volkswagen Van Centres in the UK and the following prices (excluding VAT) are valid until the 31st March 2011.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has celebrated winning a £1.7 million deal to supply over 80 Transporter vans to Arcus Engineering, who operate the refrigeration maintenance contract for Sainsbury’s supermarkets in the South East. The Arcus fleet now comprises of the new Transporter, the Caddy and were supplied on contract hire by Lex Autolease.

Janet Bass, ArcusFM fleet manager explained “It was imperative that we launched Arcus Engineering with a fleet that was reliable and robust. Arcus Engineering in based in Upminster, Essex and is a new refrigeration division to sister company ArcusFM.

Volkswagen Vans

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is sponsoring various action and adventure programmes on three Discovery Network channels for the next 12 months. There will be short Volkswagen adverts shown before and after programmes like Bear Grylis: Born Survivor, Deadliest Catch and Storm Chasers to name just a a few.

The adverts will feature a plumber, vet and gardener arriving in their Volkswagen Caddy, Transporter and Crafter vans and will discover their job is more challenging than they thought. The strapline, “Every job’s an adventure” is announced by actor Ray Winstone. ACFO Award winners

ACFO, the body representing the interests of businesses which operate cars or vans, has awarded the following manufacturers with awards, at the 2009 ACFO Fleet Car and Van of the Year Awards.

- The Volkswagen Golf range won ACFO Fleet Car of the Year for the Volkswagen Golf.

- Ford won the Fleet Light Van of the Year for the Transit Connect.

- Volkswagen also won the Van Award for their Caddy range.

- Mercedes-Benz won the Fleet Panel Van of the year category for their Sprinter.

VW Caddy Maxi

A Volkswagen Caddy Maxi has set a new world record after travelling 9,630 miles non-stop across the Transeurasia route, from the Atlantic coast in Portugal to the Pacific coast in Russia, in just over eight days.

“The Caddy’s comfort, reliability and robust construction made it the third member of our team” said driver Andreas Renz.

He went onto say,”The fact that we completed this difficult route in record time speaks volumes for Volkswagen’s quality”.

The Caddy Maxi had the benefit of Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive transmission (already offered on the California and Transporter) which will be also available on both the Caddy and Caddy Maxi vans next year. Volkswagen contract hire prices are available now on all versions of the Caddy Maxi.

Volkswagen vans

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has increased its market share for the fifth consecutive month and moves from third to second best selling van range (up to 7.4 tonnes).

In September their registrations rose by nine per cent and its market share increased by 2.3 per cent to 10.65 per cent compared to same period last year. The increase in sales was mainly due to the rise in Transporter and Caddy, including the Caddy Maxi.

Limited Edition X

Volkswagen has introduced a new Transporter Sportline Limited Edition X model as their Sportline sales continue to grow. The Caddy and Caddy Maxi Sportline models in particular have become increasingly popular. There will only be 150 of the Transporter Sportline Limited Edition X models made available in short and long wheelbase panel van mode or short wheelbase kombi.

In addition to the standard specification on the standard Transporter Sportline model of 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome grilles and side sills, leather seats and front and rear spoilers, the X model gets chrome and black “Dakar” alloy wheels, “leather pack” (leather steering wheel and gear lever), specially designed black and blue leather seats, Sportline floor mats and rear parking sensors. There is a choice of two metallic paint colours – Reflex Silver and Shadow Blue.

Volkswagen Transporter

Volkswagen has made a new “appearance pack” available on its best-selling van, the Transporter.  This new pack adds style and kerbside appeal and is available on the entire range of short and long-wheelbase Transporter panel vans, plus their passenger-carrying window vans. It includes body-coloured bumpers plus electrically adjustable, folding and heated body-coloured door mirrors and electric front windows.

This option from Volkswagen was only available before on the Caravelle people carrier or the range-topping Sportline models. This new option costs £610 (plus VAT) and Volkswagen van leasing prices on the Transporter, Caddy, Caddy Maxi and the rest of the VW range are available now.
