RoadPilot Mobile

A British driver has recently been fined for flashing his headlights to warn an oncoming motorist of a mobile speed camera detection location and fell foul of the law, according to the Highway Code.

However if you have a smartphone (Nokia and Blackberry only), Road Pilot is offering its speed camera detection application, RoadPilot Mobile, on a free trial basis if you download the app before the 28th February 2011. They do have plans to offer the app on other smartphones, for example the Apple iPhone and further details on other smartphone availability will be announced soon.

The RoadPilot Mobile will let you know about upcoming speed cameras and the road’s correct speed limit and has one of the most accurate databases available, as it has a dedicated team of surveyors who physically visit every fixed speed camera site.

Suzuki Rear Eye

Suzuki has launched a snazzy new Rear Camera Display RCD) as an accessory option for the Grand Vitara, three and five-door models. The vehicle has a wide-angle camera mounted in the rear bumper that displays a camera picture on the rear view mirror once reverse gear is selected.

The transmits a high resolution image to a 3.5-inch screen and provides additional safety when reversing, especially in a larger vehicle. The accessory costs £459 including VAT and fitting so if you are thinking about contract hiring your next your Suzuki, this would be a great road safety feature to consider.
