New Toyota Avensis Tourer

The new Toyota Avensis has just made its world debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and this third-generation model has been substantially revised. It has a bolder, more refined exterior design, with daytime running lights and the new Toyota family “face”, plus there have also been significant improvements to the finish quality and comfort in the cabin for both the Saloon and Tourer models.

The 2.0-litre D-4D diesel engine has also been revised and offers a company car driver an attractive CO2 emissions figure of 119g/km, or there is also a 1.8- and 2.0-litre petrol engine on offer. All cars have a six-speed manual transmission and some can be specified with a six-speed automatic transmission with Toyota’s Multidrive S continuously variable transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifts.

New Toyota Avensis Saloon

The new Toyota Avensis is packed full of safety features with ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Traction Control (TC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC+) as standard. New Golf Cabriolet

The new Volkswagen Golf Cariolet and the Volkswagen Jetta have both been awarded a maximum five stars safety rating for adult, child and pedestrian protection from EuroNCAP, the OEM-independent international crash testing programme. 

Both the Golf Cabriolet and the Jetta achieved impressive scores in the occupant safety test with scores of 96% and 94% respectively. They attained top marks in all seat positions regardless of the height of the driver and front passenger. They also received top marks in child occupant protection for ages 18 months to 3 years with frontal and car-to-car side impact tests as well, making these two Volkswagens among the safest vehicles in their class.

Pedestrian protection is also important and the Jetta has achieved good results especially in protection of the lower leg from the bumper and the Golf Cabriolet achieved good results in head protection for children, as the top of the bonnet can deflect inwards in a frontal impact.

Finally both vehicles impressed the EuroNCAP assessors in the “safety assist” category with 71% scores, as both have safety items like vehicle dynamic control (ESP) as standard. Volkswagen car leasing is available now on all models.

Jaguar

The new Jaguar 2012 MY (Model Year) has just gone on sale and promises the fastest and most efficient production Jaguars ever created. The new XF 2.2  is diesel is bound to be popular with company car drivers with CO2 emissions at 149g/km, a 0-62mph time of 8.5 seconds, top speed of 142mph and a combined mpg of 52.3.

The improvements to the Jaguar MY12 include extensive panel changes to the XF including the bonnet, front and rear lights and bumpers, front wings, plus improvements to the interior switchgear, navigation system and seats. The XK range also sees a number of changes including a new, larger front grille framed by a set of new headlight units, new front wing vents, new wheel designs and changes to the rear lights. BMW X3

The new second-generation BMW X3 Sports Activity Vehicle has just been awarded five stars by the assessors at the Euro NCAP crash testing facilities. The NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) procedure is ranked as one of the most rigorous tests worldwide, at which new cars are put through a series of tough crash tests.

Coming with a range of safety features, the BMW X3 offers excellent occupant protection in all seats as all occupants are protected by a stable passenger cell. It scored well for a front-end collision for both the driver and passenger (regardless of a person’s size) and was awarded outstanding ratings for the protection of children aged around three years or 18 months, in the relevant-sized child seats. It also received maximum points for side protection.

In the active safety test the BMW X3 has the following standard options which earned it an outstanding rating as well. The car has Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), linked to intelligent all-wheel drive, Braking Assistant, Cornering Braking Control, Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Stability Control and Tyre Defect Indicator. Mitsubishi i-MIEV

Nissan Juke "Kuro"

Nissan is bringing out a special edition of their funky Nissan Juke called the “Kuro” with ony 700 models destined for the UK. The car is based on the top-of-the-range Tekna grade and features new ten-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels, finished in gloss black along with black mirror and handles.

The new Nissan Juke “Kuro” (which means black in Japanese) is available in a choice of two metallic finishes, Pearl Black or Force Red and a special numbered plaque fitted to the centre console to designate its exclusivity. The full range of Nissan Juke engines will be available starting with the entry level 1.6-litre petrol, right up to the flagship 190hp turbocharged DIG-T. Kia PIcanto 3-door

Kia has added a three-door version of their popular Kia Picanto city car to their range for the first time, with four trim levels available. The new trim levels are 1, 1 Air, Halo and Equinox with standard features on all models including a trip computer, height-adjustable seat, tilt-adjustable steering column and Motor Drive Power Steering.

The car also comes with a radio and CD player with MP3 compatibility plus on the outside all models get body-coloured door mirrors and bumpers plus twin chromed exhaust outlets. If you want the value of the 1 specification but also need air-conditioning then opt for the 1 Air.

Depending on the engine and trim choices there is a choice of four exterior colours and alloy wheels are standard on all models, but not on the “1″ and “1 Air” variations. The new range

New Korando crossover

SsangYong, the Korean manufacturer, is ready to return to the UK with the launch of their new Korando crossover which should be available in September. The brand’s relaunch into the UK follows a recent change to the importer and in addition, SsangYong will also be re-launching the updated versions of the Rexton (rugged 4×4), Rodius (seven-seat MPV) plus the Rexton CV (commercial version) as well.

The new Korando has been designed and styled in Europe by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Ital Design, has front-wheel and four-wheel drive models, plus it has a two-tonne towing capacity. It is being pitched against the Hyundai ix35, Kia Sportage, Mitsubishi ASX and Nissan Qashqai and is keenly priced from only £16,995 on-the-road, making it highly competitive.

All models are powered by an advanced 173bhp 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo diesel engine with CO2 emissions from only 157g/km. The car has an “on demand” four wheel drive system and has a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The car trim levels are S or ES in their front wheel drive Korando, or the top of the range EX specification in four wheel drive.

All models comes equipped with cruise control, ESP with Hill Start Assist and reverse parking sensors as standard, which will be a great help when towing.
