BVRLA to launch new online safety recall system in 2012

BVRLA working with VOSA and eboon-Dacs to do this

The British Vehicle Rental & Leasing Association (BVRLA) is set to launch a new online motor manufacturer safety recall system in 2012 in conjunction with Ebbon-Dacs and the Operator Services Agency (VOSA). The new system will provide a single location for all car manufacturers to list their safety recall notfications.

The BVRLA hopes that companies that run vehicle fleets and motor manufacturers will be able to test the new service during the pilot stage in May 2012, with an aim to launch by August 2012.

The Ebbon-Dac’s web-based system will also allow BVRLA members to input their own fleet data which can be compared to the recall information so that a report can then be produced to highlight any outstanding recalls.

Toyota is on track with their vehicle recall programme

Toyota has confirmed they are on track with the accelerator recall programme with over 90,000 cars already having had the necessary work completed. This is over half the number of vehicles needing attention. They have also corrected over 58% of the Toyota Prius models needing the braking software attended too as well.

Miguel Fonseca, Toyota GB Managing Director, said,”Our thanks go to our customers who continue to be supportive and have confidence in the Toyota brand, and everyone in the Toyota family, from head office to the workshops,who have all worked together to maintain a high level of service quality as we address the challenges of the recall programme”.

With all the recent press around Toyota recalls for the Prius, it is quite easy to check whether your vehicle is subject to a manufacturer recall via the VOSA website.

A new Car Recall Useful Information page has also been updated onto the site today to help site visitors understand the process and how to report a safety defect on their vehicle or to check if there is an outstanding issue on their car.
