Honda has just been named as the UK’s greenest car brand by EcoVelocity, the UK’s green motor show. Honda was placed ahead of Vauxhall in second and Nissan in third place.

Visitors to the recent EcoVelocity show were asked which cars they perceived to the greenest and the full list of winners is below;

Chevrolet Captiva towing

If you have a caravan you will be interested to know that Chevrolet has developed a new guide to safe caravanning in conjunction with the NCC (National Caravanning Council), the Camping and Caravanning Club and Elddis Caravans.

There are around half a million caravanning enthusiasts in the UK and with the forthcoming June Bank Holiday weekend, many caravans will be taking to UK roads for a break or even for overseas holidays in France, Spain, etc.

The Chevrolet car range includes the Captiva SUV as a suitable vehicle for towing caravans with its increased towing capacity and hence their interest in ensuring caravanners have a safe journey.

Chevrolet Trax SUV

The Chevrolet Trax will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show and this all-new small SUV (sport utility vehicle) joins the existing car range of Spark city car, Aveo, Cruze, Orlando, Captiva and the new Chevrolet Volt. The Trax has a muscular exterior design and wide stance and inside the interior quality is comparable to standards found in more expensive vehicles.

It has space for five adults and generous luggage space and should be in Chevrolet European showrooms by the spring of 2013. This new model will go on sale in over 140 countries worldwide and Chevrolet is promising great fuel economy and car-like-handling in the ever competitive small SUV segment.

Vauxhall Ampera

EcoVelocity will opens its doors on the 5th May 2012 for another low-carbon motor event at London’s ExCel. This is the second year of the show and the event will last until the 12th May 2012.

If you are looking to change to a greener car then you will be able to test drive all the latest low-CO2 eco cars available from car manufacturers such as Vauxhall, Peugeot, Mia, Nissan, Honda, Citroen and Chevrolet.

The show is being sponsored by EDF Energy, The Charging Point, Michelin, Zip Car, Schneider Electric, Rolec, Source London and Zero Carbon World and promises to demonstrate the latest green motoring innovations.

If you want to test drive any vehicle you MUST bring both copies of your driving licence, so don’t forget, as it is a legal requirement before you can drive the numerous vehicles on the 3.5 mile test route.

Chevrolet BTCC cars

Chevrolet has unveiled their stunning new 2011 BTCC cars in the new livery with new sponsor logos on as well. The two new Cruzes will be driven by driver’s champion, Jason Plato and young gun, Alex MacDowall.

The new cars feature the bold new livery with sponsors such as Dunlop, Holiday Inn, Auto Express and Evo, plus paint supplier DuPont, ECM Vehicle Logistics and Tesco Momentum 99 Octane Fuel. The first race of the new 2011 BTCC season starts on Sunday, the 3rd April 2011, at Brands Hatch in Kent and Jason Plato commented,”It’s even better than last year’s car. And we won the championship in that!”

American classic car

The recent Historics sale at Brooklands drew a vast capacity crowd with a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy a piece of automotive and movie history. All lots from the the forthcoming Marvel Studios movie, Captain America -”The First Avenger” were sold, with 56 cars, commercial vans and trucks on show from the movie collection.

Mercedes-Benz 280SE Cabriolet

Chevrolet Matiz

Chevrolet Spark

The all-new Chevrolet Spark prices have been announced and cars should be available from Spring 2010 in two engine choices. The all-new Spark entry level model will be offered with a 1.0-litre engine developing 68PS and is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox. 

The Spark+ trim offers air conditioning, electric front windows and central locking plus USB compatible four-speaker stereo.

The LS version ,which is expected to be the most popular version, adds remote central locking, silver trim detailing, a sunglasses holder, 14-inch wheels, body-coloured door handles and mirrors, chrome-effect grille surround,  front fog lamps and a body coloured rear spoiler.

LS+ gets smart alloy wheels, electric windows front and rear, a trip computer, heated electric door mirrors, roof bars and steering wheel audio controls.  The top of the range LT (which is only available in the 1.2-litre engine) comes with 15-inch alloy wheels, climate control, interior detailing to match the exterior (where possible), an exterior body kit and a six speaker stereo.

WTCC Champions

SEAT has won the World Touring Car Championships in Macau following the culmination of the WTCC season. Not only did they win the Manufacturers’  World Championship but also the Drivers’ World Championship as well.

SEAT triumphed with the diesel Leon and Leon WTCC and saw off competition from BMW, Chevrolet and Lada in the manufacturers’ championship.

The manufacturer standings were as follows:

1- SEAT 314 points.

2- BMW 311 points.

3- Chevrolet 215 points.

4- Lada 83 points.

Cruze in diesel

The Chevrolet Cruze is well known for offering value for money and Chevrolet has now introduced a new diesel engine into the range. The 125PS VCDi powerplant produces a 0-62mph of 10.3 seconds, a combined mpg performance of 51.4 and a CO2 emissions figure of 145g/km.

In entry level the Cruze offers air conditioning, electronic stability control, CD-radio with auxiliary socket, front electric windows, remote central locking, body coloured bumpers, Thatcham approved alarm and electrically adjustable heated door mirrors.
