Greener Tepee

Greener Tepee

The new Peugeot Partner Tepee class leading MPV has now got “Greener” with a new Euro 5 petrol engine offering a 12.5% reduction in fuel consumption and a 15% reduction on CO2 emissions.

The Partner Tepee S model will now be powered by a 1.6-litre 120bhp VTi Euro 5 petrol engine, previously seen in the 207 and 308 model range. Using their class leading Variable Valve Lift and Timing injection (VTi) technology plus an inlet valve lift system, Peugeot is also using these two innovations to improve the engine’s thermodynamic efficiency and further reduce fuel consumption and CO2.

Volvo is launching a new Volvo C70 coupe/convertible at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The original car was launched in early 2006 and broke new ground at the time, as the world’s first four seater with a retractable hard top.

The new car has been updated with a fresh new design both inside and out and retains the three piece retractable roof which opens in just 30 seconds.

The nose of the new car has a more distinct wedge shape with new pronounced headlamps and updated fog lights adding to the inviting “V” shape. From the rear the high-tech LED lamps, as found on the XC60, are now added.

Inside the car has a more luxurious feel with new, softer leather upholstery and a re-designed instrument panel. Four engines will be available when launched and the following data is provisional and shows information for manual versions only, with the fuel data for combined mpg consumption. The first cars are expected to be in showrooms in early 2010 with full prices and vehicle specifications released later to this date.

CO2 and fuel consumption is closely linked

Friday, March 13th, 2009

The SMMT has reported that CO2 emissions and fuel consumption are closely linked. However as fuel is a combination of different constituents a direct ratio is not possible.

However in their new report on Car CO2 emissions  they have shown a corrolation chart that shows the figures are closely linked. The SMMT has said it is important to convey to companies and motorists that reducing fuel consumption also helps reduce CO2 emissions. The governments’s Act on CO2 campaign is working very hard to encourage best in class and efficient use of vehicles. The recent economic downturn has also made companies and consumers alike, focus on fuel costs, in order to save money.

Fuel consumption is often cited near the top of consumer priorities when choosing a car ( see King Review 2007), but emissions are often much lower down the list.

The message is that by saving fuel consumption and choosing fuel efficient vehicles, you can reduce your CO2 emissions too.
