New Honda Civic in disguise

Honda has confirmed that the new Civic and the next generation CR-V will be built at their UK manufacturing plant in Swindon, which is great news for the local economy and the UK as a whole.  The new Civic will be the ninth-generation of this popular hatchback since it went on sale back in 1972.

Mark Trowbridge,Director of Quality and New Model at HUM, said,”The next six months will be busy, as we ramp up to full production following the training and trial builds of the new car. The fact that we will be the only Honda plant in the world producing this hatchback version of the new Civic, makes us extremely proud of the highly skilled and dedicated team we have working here in Swindon”. Honda Jazz IMA Hybrid

The Honda Jazz (B-segment car) is set to get Honda’s petrol-electric IMA system added to the range and will make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show. The new car will get the same engine that is in the Insight Hybrid, the 1.3-litre i-VTEC combined a CVT gearbox, with an electric motor to offer a parallel hybrid system.

The new cleaner Jazz also gets a visual refresh with revised headlights with a blue surround, clear rear lights, new front grille, restyled bumpers and a chrome tailgate garnish. Available in a range of existing colours there is also a new Lime Green metallic. The cabin also gets a new fresh look with a darker single colour dashboard and is available with leather trim for the first time in a Jazz model in Europe.

Honda will also display the 2011 Insight, CR-Z, Jazz, CR-V, Accord and Accord Tourer as well as their sports touring motorcycle VFR1200F which has a V4 engine plus their PCX scooter, with a low emission idle-stop 125cc engine. Honda Swindon exports to Japan

The first British built Honda Civic Type R models are now on sale in Japan after the first cars were shipped from Southampton docks. Built at Swindon, exporting this UK-produced car to Japan is a real “feather in the cap” for the workers at Honda, Swindon.

Just 2,010 of these models powered by the 201PS i-VTEC engine will be built in colours of Milano Red, Alabaster Silver and Championship White.

The Swindon factory already produces the rest of the Civic 3 and 5 door range , the CR-V SUV and latterly this autumn the Honda Jazz as well.
