Latest DVLA Personalised Registrations sale generates £3.17m
Wednesday, October 12th, 2011It may be tough economic times but the latest DVLA Personalised Registrations sale, at Down Country House Hotel in Hertfordshire, generated £3.17 million in revenue during the three-day event.
There were 1,500 personalised registrations on sale and more than 92 per cent of them went under the hammer. Some of the highlights were DE11 BOY which was bought by businessman Chris Parsons for £35,330, the highest sale over the event. UK51 NGH came second and went for £21,560, while 36 0 was sold for £16,520.
The final auction of 2011 will be held at Dormy House Hotel, Broadway which is being held from Wednesday the 30th November. DVLA Personalised Registrations’ Marketing Manager, Damien Lawson, said,”Our recent sale was terrific. Again, our successful sale re-confirms the popularity of personalised registrations is still extremely high”.
If you are thinking of leasing a new car, you can fit a personalised plate but you will need to get permission from your leasing company. There are some other points to remember when fitting a personalised plate as follows;
- It is illegal to misrepresent a vehicle registration on a number plate, perhaps to indicate the car is newer than it actually is. Full rules can be found at the DVLA website.
- When you buy a personalised plate, the final sum includes the winning amount, auctioneers commission, 20 per cent VAT and the £80 transfer fee as well.
