The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2012, together with MGM Grand Detroit, will once again feature über-luxury and performance vehicles at The Gallery.  Now in its fifth year, this exclusive motoring event will be held at MGM Grand Detroit on Sunday, the 8th January, 2012.

The Gallery will feature some magnificent luxury vehicles from Aston Martin, Bentley, Corvette, Falcon, Ferrari, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Lexus, Lincoln, Lingenfelter, Maserati, Morgan, Porsche, Range Rover, Rolls-Royce, and some of the finest motorcycles. 

Many of the vehicles on display at The Gallery will not be shown at the NAIAS, for example the Aston Martin One-77, Lamborghini Aventador, Rolls Royce Ghost and Jaguar XKR-S will be on display exclusively at The Gallery.

Ferrari in Exeter

The Ferrari dealership in Exeter has undergone a significant refurbishment and has now been officially opened by Ferrari, with their new Corporate Identity on show. This is the first dealership in the south-west to display the CI of the brand and also has a full sales and an aftersales facility.

The new state-of-the-art showroom has a fully-detailed “Atelier”, which is modelled on the one at the Marinello factory, so customers can choose from a wide range of options to really personalise their new Ferrari. The refurbished dealership also has a brand new waiting room and dedicated handover bay.

Cobra is continuing its partnership with Volkswagen by providing Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles with a range of standard fit and optional accessories for the new Amarok pick-up. Every Amarok will come with the Thatcham approved Cobra 4405 alarm as standard.

Fiat offers low CO2 cars

Fiat has set new standards in low CO2 emissions having the lowest volume weighted CO2 emissions, according to leading automotive and consulting firm, JATO Dynamics. Fiat Automobiles recorded a CO2 average of just 123.1 g/km placing it at the top off all manufacturer brands for the fourth year running. They are also well ahead of the European target of 130 g/km, which is due to be met by all car manufacturers by 2015.

Fiat also ranked first among the motor groups with a figure of 125.9 g/km and this takes into account all their luxury brands including Ferrari and Maserati. Fiat has had a long-term eco-strategy with technical innovations such as MutliAir, MultiJet and TwinAir engines plus Start&Stop, electronic traction management (Dualogic robotised transmission) and their eco:Drive in-car software. Vicki Butler-Henderson, one of Channel Five’s Fifth Gear presenters, has just launched a new hardback book naming her “100 Sexiest Cars”. Vicky was born into a racing family and started racing karts when she was just 12 years old. Many of the reasons for inclusion in the book are quite interesting with her wedding limousine, the Maserati Quattroporte being one example.

Moving Motor Show

This year’s 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed will now  have a one-day extension called the “Moving Motor Show” where new car buyers can preview a selection of models and even try them out, (strictly at the invitation of the car manufacturers attending). Most sectors of the new car market will be represented at the Moving Motor Show on Thursday the 1st July, from economy hatchbacks to MPVs, family saloons to SUVs and prestige limousines to supercars.

Manufacturers who have confirmed attendance include Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Jaguar, BMW, Abarth, Morgan, Volvo, Mazda, Rolls-Royce, Ford, Nissan and Alpina. The Festival of Speed attracts over 150,000 visitors every year over the three days and the cars from the manufacturers above will undertake hundreds of runs on a special evaluation route.

McLaren MP4-12C

McLaren has launched a new sports car company called McLaren Automotive and is set to put into production a new range of high performance sports cars. McLaren has obviously built its credentials in Formula 1 and now has an aspiration to manufacture, then sell and service their new vehicles worldwide.

The first sports car will be the MP4-12C and the aspiration is to build bespoke, innovative and unique sports cars to take on the likes of Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini.

Aston Martin
