Fiat has tied up a deal with Connect, one of the UK’s leading car-share companies that is owned by Hertz. The car-by-the-hour business has agreed a deal to supply the Fiat 500 city car and the sporty Alfa MiTo to customers who want the occasional use of car. The cars in the Connect scheme will be initially rolled out in London with a wider use later this year.

Connect has agreed to take 170 cars to start with and the sub-120g/km CO2 figures for these models will not only offer great fuel efficiency but they are easy and fun to drive as well. Fiat 500

The iconic Fiat 500 has now broken into the top ten UK sales figures for the first time in October 2009, coming in at number ten. This is the first time since its launch in January 2008 that the model has featured, with 2,989 units being sold.

Fiat 500 C is here

It made its debut at the Geneva Motor show and finally the Fiat 500 C, convertible version of the iconic Fiat 500, has gone on sale in the UK. The car remains true to the heritage of Fiat by paying homage to the original design of the 1957 fabric roof on the original Fiat 500. The car’s aerodynamic design ensures that wind turbulence is kept to a minimum and the full open top experience can enjoyed by all passengers.

The car is available in three colours, ivory, red or black and the clever soft top is matched with the various paint finishes. Three new colour creations include pearlescent Ragamuffin Red, Tech House Grey and Goth-Metal Blue.

Performance and engine options

The electronically operated soft top can be controlled by either buttons next to the interior roof light, or from the car’s remote control unit and can be operated at any speed under 37mph. In addition when the soft top is folded, the colour-coded matching spoiler integrated brake light is still visible – a nice safety touch. The soft top operation is really easy to use and if there are only two passengers there is an optional wind-stop that can be positioned between the front and rear seats.
