I-MIEV electric city car

Hertz has just taken delivery of two new Mitsubishi i-MIEV electric city cars for its Green Collection of daily rental vehicles to hire. The i-MIEVs are now available for Hertz daily rental customers and also their car sharing club, Connect by Hertz members, to use around London with plans to take more onto their fleet soon.

All cars in the Hertz Green Collection in Europe can be reserved  by make and model and offer a CO2 output of less than 140g/km plus they offer fuel consumption ranging from 45-65mpg, depending upon vehicle size. You can charge your i-MIEVs at various Hertz charging stations across the capital, as well as at Heathrow and London City Airport.

Fiat 500 city car

Fiat has tied up a deal with Connect, one of the UK’s leading car-share companies that is owned by Hertz. The car-by-the-hour business has agreed a deal to supply the Fiat 500 city car and the sporty Alfa MiTo to customers who want the occasional use of car. The cars in the Connect scheme will be initially rolled out in London with a wider use later this year.

Connect has agreed to take 170 cars to start with and the sub-120g/km CO2 figures for these models will not only offer great fuel efficiency but they are easy and fun to drive as well. All you need to do is swipe your Connect swipe card and you can gain access to the cars for as little as an hour at a time. Ford at Wimbledon

Hertz has chosen a range of Ford vehicles to move tennis stars around Wimbledon over the next two weeks, like Andy Murray, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and the Williams sisters. The fleet is made up of top-of-the-range Ford Galaxy, S-MAX and Kuga models – all finished in blue and silver, in line with the All England Lawn Tennis Club’s requirements.

Neil Cunningham, General Manager UK & European Strategic Projects, Hertz UK Ltd said,” We were delighted to partner with Ford again for the Championships; having a spacious and reliable fleet is essential to provide the very best service to players and coaches”.

Last year, over 15,000 journeys were made over the two weeks, covering an estimated 228,000 miles, which is the same as driving round the globe a remarkable nine times. Hertz is hoping to save circa 2 tonnes of CO2 compared with previous fleets by using the latest CO2 efficient Ford models.
