Hyundai has just announced they have sold 5 million vehicles since the Pony was imported back in 1977. The five millionth vehicle was in fact an i30, which was launched in 2007. Since then the i30 has sold 320,000 units across the European dealer network and is one of Hyundai’s most successful models.

Other new models are also selling well such as the i10, i20, i20 compact MPV and ix35 SUV and Hyundai recorded a 2.6% market share in 2010. Allan Rushforth, Senior Vice President and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe, said,”Hitting five million sales is a wonderful achievement for Hyundai, and it marks us out as a major player in what is the world’s most competitive car market”. Hyundai car leasing prices are on the site now for both business and personal users.

Hyundai has set another company record by selling over 15,000 models in the month of March (15,241), beating the previous record of 11,031 set in September 2009. Only one in three on the March registrations were due to car scrappage customers and this now shows Hyundai is breaking into other markets, offering value for money and great build quality.

Best seller in the month was the i10 (6,195 units), followed by the i30 with 4,584 units and the i20 with 3,570. March also saw the launch of the eagerly awaited Hyundai ix35 (the replacement for the Tucson) and Hyundai has already taken over 500 orders for this new SUV.

Car registrations strengthen in August

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

SMMT data on car registrations has shown a 6.0% rise to 67,006 units, which is a welcome boost for the industry. This is the second successive month that a rise has been reported and builds on the 2.4% rise in July. The car scrappage scheme is continuing to influence car sales figures in a positive way and the figures  for September are highly anticipated, with the new “59″ plate figures included.

Paul Everitt of the SMMT said,” New car registrations in August increased for the second successive month, providing welcome news for the UK motor industry. The scrappage incentive scheme is having a positive impact but with consumer and business confidence still fragile, there remain significant risks ahead. It is essential that these early signs of recovery are sustained into 2010″.

- Despite the growth the 2009 August figure was still over 10,500 units below the 2007 number and 15% off the 78,800 market averaged between 1999 and 2008.

- August typically accounts for 3.3 of annual new car registrations and September accounts for an average of 17%.

-Private demand rose by 50.5% in August and was boosted by the car scrappage scheme.

- The mini and supermini segments showed a surging growth, up 252.8% and 16.9% respectively.

- Overall the Ford Focus was the best selling model in August, ahead of the Fiesta and the Hyundai i10.

- All data is kindly supplied by the SMMT.

New Hyundai ix35

Hyundai has released the first pictures of their new Hyundai ix35 SUV, which is the replacement model for the Tucson and will go on sale in the Spring of 2010. The new hexagonal styled grille on this new ix35 will also be carried over to other new Hyundai models, when released.

The ix35 is a bit smaller than conventional C-segment hatchbacks and MPV’s which will broaden the appeal of this model to potential customers who are looking for something more stylish. The car will be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show from September and the full vehicle specification will be released after this. Hyundai Contract Hire is a partner on the site and their car leasing prices are readily available on all their range including i10, i20, i30, Coupe, Matrix, Sonata, Tucson and Santa Fe.
