The BBC Top Gear team have chosen the Kia cee’d 2 1.6 manual five-door hatchback as their new “Reasonably Priced Car”. The Stig, the white-helmeted mystery man, put the car through its paces at the Surrey test track and found the car “up to the mark” for the various stars to test in the new series.

Stephen Kitson, Communications Director at Kia Motors (UK) Ltd said,”The last time Top Gear paid us any attention I think they tried to build one of our cars out of washing machines – so this is a quite a step forward in their understanding of just how Kia has changed over the last six years”.

The cee’d 2 1.6-litre manual comes with a Kia 7-year warranty and returns 46.3mpg on the combined cycle and emits just 146g/km of CO2 emissions. Kia contract hire prices are on the site now.

The Kia cee’d scored 83.8 per cent in the recent J.D Power and Associates/What Car? Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study (VOSS) to achieve a stunning 4th overall position. The c’eed finished just behind luxury cars like the Lexus and Jaguar. The cee’d also topped the “Lower Medium Car” segment ahead of vehicles such as the BMW 1 Series and the Skoda Octavia.

The Kia cee’d was the first Kia model to benefit from Kia’s major quality offensive and the Soul Urban crossover, Venga B-segment MPV and Sorento SUV have also been part of the quality excellence programme. Kia VG saloon

Kia Motors has released images of an exciting new saloon car that will go on sale in Korea at the end of 2009. At this stage there are no plans to bring the car to the UK however looking at the pictures let’s hope Kia changes their mind.

The new model is currently known by its code name VG and will replace the Opirus model in Korean, North American and European markets. This new saloon concept car was first unveiled at the Seoul Motor Show earlier this year.

Kia Motors has released the first images of the new cee’d which has been freshened up and given a much improved look. Metal sheet changes have been made to the bonnet plus additional alterations to the bumper, grille and light clusters to give the cee’d the new ”family face” of the brand.

Inside there have been enhancements too, with a more intuitive centre console and an upgraded audio system including Bluetooth. Paul Philpott, Managing Director Kia Motors (UK) Limited said;”Since its launch just over a year and a half ago, cee’d has been instrumental in placing Kia firmly as one of the top five global automakers. With over 5,000 units sold in the UK so far this year, cee’d is currently holding a four per cent share of the retail market”.

The new cee’d will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September alongside two new models. Kia has already launched the Kia Soul which is also proving very popular and car leasing prices on the Kia range can be compared now.
