Kia car production

Kia has announced that it is expanding its Georgia manufacturing plant in September 2011 to increase car production to cater for strong U.S. demand for its new Optima saloon. The Optima saloon will be built alongside their Sorento SUV which has been Kia’s best-selling vehicle in the U.S. each month, since it went on sale in January 2010.

This cash injection represents an additional U.S. $100 million investment by Kia Motors and will increase the total number of jobs created at the facility to over 3,000. Annual car production capacity will be raised to 360,000 units per year after all the new initiatives have taken place.

The county of Surrey has been named as the worst for damaged and blighted roads, with circa 1,998 potholes afflicting Surrey’s 450,000 motorists.

The Kia Motors UK Pothole Survey has highlighted the growing problem of potholes across the UK and the effect this is having on car suspension failure, damaged alloys and split tyres.

The list of Britain’s potholes mapped is as follows;

Kia wins fleet deal

Kia Motors (UK) Ltd has secured a deal to supply 92 cars over three years to Avery Berkel, a leading supplier of retail weighing solutions. The cars will be supplied by Kia Brindley of Wolverhampton which is a Kia Business Specialist Dealer.

The cars supplied are the cee’d EcoDynamics SWs and will be used by the nationwide network of Avery Berkel service engineers, as they carry out repairs and servicing at retail stores around the UK. The new cars are all fitted with ISG (Intelligent Stop and Go) technology, which automatically shuts down the engine when the car is at a standstill (and in neutral) and offers great fuel economy.

Dan McToal, Service Director at Avery Berkel said,”For our retail customers, equipment downtime has a negative impact on store profitability. Ensuring our technicians are equipped with the latest technology is therefore vital to our service delivery and investing in the new Kia car fleet is a key part of this process”.

Kia competes at Daytona

Kia Motors America, in partnership with Kinetic Group, has built the number No. 10 and No. 12 to compete in the “Fresh From Florida 200″ at Daytona International Speedway.

Michael Sprague,vice president of marketing KMA said, “From the moment we announced KMA was getting into racing we believed the Forte Koup would be  a strong competitor in GRAND-AM”. 

The two-door, front wheel drive race cars are utilising Forte Koup’s production2.4-litre inline four cylinder engiine.
