Nissan LEAF

Siemens has just chosen the Nissan LEAF to become the first electric vehicle on its company car fleet and the three new electric cars join the employee pool vehicles at the engineering company’s Industrial Turbo Machinery business in Lincolnshire. Siemens has also ordered seven more Nissan LEAF’s to be used at other UK locations and is placing the LEAF at the centre of its electric vehicle (EV) fleet plans.

Siemens is also working with Lincoln City Council to install charging solutions across the city and has also installed its own company charging EV point as well. Mark Bonnor-Morris, business development manager of Siemens Mobility and Logistics, Traffic Solutions, said,”We’re moving people between our site in Lincoln and using the Nissan LEAF means we can travel through the city with zero emissions”.

The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) has welcomed the government’s proposals to centralise the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency) activities and to try and move more of the DVLA’s services online. The aim of the proposal  is to make dealing with the DVLA easier and quicker for motorists.

BVRLA chief executive, John Lewis, said,”Last year we sat down with the minister and told him there was a massive opportunity to streamline and modernise the way the DVLA dealt with its customers”.

• Have electronic notification for SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) or vehicle disposal
• Prepayment accounts for the refund and purchase of VED (Vehicle Excise Duty)  
• Electronic V5 registration document (printed on demand only)
• E-licencing for goods vehicles
• Real-time online ddriving licence checking
• Multi-year VED i.e. 2 years for example
• Removing the need to display a tax disc

Range Rover Evoque

Land Rover is taking over Euston Station for an innovative new marketing campaign for the Range Rover Evoque, which is taking place until the 27th November 2011. This is the first time that a car manufacturer has completely taken over Euston Station and imagery of the Range Rover Evoque will be displayed in the main hall and along the escalators down to the underground platform.

Nine large screens have been set up in the main concourse to display a two minute film showcasing the Evoque and the screens have been designed in a way to “wrap around” customers.
