The world record for Longest Car Drift has just been broken at Mercedes-Benz World, Surrey, by Mauro Calo. Mauro smashed the existing world record by 394 metres by reaching a total distance of 2308 metres. To achieve this milestone, Mauro chose part of the Handling Circuit at Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey, as the circuit provides a complete 360 degree circle of tarmac which saw him complete almost 8 laps. 

Andrew Mallery, Commercial Operations Director, Mercedes-Benz Cars said,”When Mauro approached us to hold his world record breaking attempt on the circuit at Mercedes-Benz World we were happy to offer him the support. He has been a valuable member of the driving experience handling team for several years and is a respected driver in the industry, so there was no doubt he would achieve his aim”.

2010 smart festival

The 2010 smart festival is being held this year at Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge on Saturday the 4th September and coincides with the 10th year anniversary of right-hand drive smarts being available in the UK. There will be exclusive opportunities to drive the smart fortwo electric drive and also Lewis Hamilton, the 2008 Formula 1 World Champion will be making an appearance.

Lewis will be presenting the winners of the “Most Modified”, “Best Kept” and “Best Dressed” smart cars with their prizes as well. Other attractions at the smart festival will be a collection of the BRABUS tailor-made models, the smart arrows formation driving team, plus a host of driving games that include smart football.

Mercedes-Benz has opened a new BlueEFFICIENCY exhibition at Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey. The  special “green” exhibition displays all the latest Mercedes-Benz BlueEFFICIENCY technology and is aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

The new hydrogen powered fuel cell development with the B-Class F-Cell is on show, with a cutaway version of the car showing off the innovation and technology for this zero emission vehicle. You can also visit the futuristic 360 degree interactive area, where other BlueEFFICIENCY technologies are on show including the DIESOTTO engine. This remarkable engine offers the power of a petrol engine with the efficiency of a diesel. 

Mercedes-Benz World is a great day out for the family and offers simulator rides, interactive displays, driving experiences and of course lots of Mercedes-Benz cars on show. In addition Young Driver Training is available to anyone over a height of 1.5 metres.
