Friday, December 4th, 2009The growing rise of roadside and mobile speed cameras for the enforcement of speed limits in the UK and Europe, has put a greater risk on motorists losing their licence. RoadPilot has now launched a cost effective downloadable speed camera application for a smart phone to help drivers keep on the right side of the law.
RoadPilot Mobile is available on an annual subscription basis (price to be announced shortly) however to mark the launch they are offering a no-strings free trial which will run until February 2010.
The application is available on the following handsets from launch:
Nokia: N95, N95 8GB, N78, N79, N82, N85, N96, E66, E71, E75, 6110 Navigator, 6210 Navigator, 6220 Classic
Other handsets to follow: RIM Blackberry,Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Apple iPhone, Windows Mobile and Android-compatible handsets, plus more Symbian phones
How RoadPilot Mobile works:
RoadPilot Mobile uses GPS technology to triangulate the vehicle’s position in relation to the firm’s database of European speed camera sites.
As the vehicle approaches a known camera site, the application can give a combination of visual and audio alerts depending on whether the vehicle’s speed exceeds the local limit. When not in alert mode, RoadPilot Mobile displays the vehicle’s speed and bearing via a rotating compass.
