The Octavia Green E Line test fleet is based on the Octavia Combi as the chassis from the Combi is ideal for holding the battery, electronic controllers and electric motor. The battery pack is situated under the middle and rear floor panel and in part of the boot so is well hidden, allowing the car to seat five adults, plus it has a range of around 93 miles. It takes around 8 hours to fully charge at 230V (single-phase AC) and 2 hours at 400 V (three-phase AC).

Comparing car leasing quotes

The initial rental on a car leasing contract is the first payment you will make and it is really important to closely look at the amount a lease company may be asking for the initial first payment. Headline car leasing rentals advertised at £139+VAT per month for example, may look really cheap, but what’s the initial rental on this deal?

Let’s say the lease company is asking for £1000+VAT as the initial rental and over a three contract there are then 35 subsequent rentals at £139+VAT per month to pay.

The numbers (excl VAT):

£139 x 35 = £4865 + £1000 initial rental = £5855 which is the total rentals payable (exclusive of VAT) over the term (length) of the contract.

Standard payment terms that are advertised on Comparecontracthire.com are always three rentals in advance and on a three-year contract this would be a 3 months initial rental, followed by 35 payments, which is 38 equal payments in total.

If you divide £5,855 by 38 payments this works out as £154.07 per month. The £139 rental looked cheaper but in fact it’s not, it’s the same deal over the life of the contract.
