New Peugeot 107
Peugeot is updating the popular Peugeot 107 city car which gets a “new face”, improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions, when it goes on sale in February 2012. The front of the car has a deeper, lower front panel with a stylish housing for the front fog lights, LED daytime running lights and to finish it all off, a redesigned bumper.
Three trim levels are on offer, namely Access, Active and Allure and this now brings the new Peugeot 107 into line with the rest of the Citroen car range’s naming strategy. Air conditioning is now standard on Active level versions with alloy wheels and rev counter, Peugeot Connect Bluetooth and USB connection now standard on all Allure versions.
The car emits 99g/km of CO2 emissions, which is handy if driving in London or other congestion zones, returns 65.7 combined mpg, reaches 0-62mph in 14.2 seconds and has a top speed of 100mph where permitted. All versions of the new Peugeot 107 come with a 998cc petrol engine coupled to manual transmission and we should be loading the new Peugeot 107 contract hire prices shortly.

Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4
Benefit-in-kind is a key factor when choosing your next company car and under the BIK current rules, diesel models attract a 3% diesel surcharge due to their particulate emissions. However the HMRC has just confirmed that Peugeot’s diesel-electric HYbrid4 vehicles will not attract the 3% diesel uplift.
The Peugeot HYbrid4 models use the world’s first diesel electric hybrid layout currently using a 2.0-litre HDi 163 diesel engine to propel the front wheels and a 37bhp electric motor for the rear wheels. The first car with this combination is the Peugeot 3008 Crossover and will soon be seen in the Peugeot 508 RXH and the 508 Saloon HYbrid4.
The environmental and fuel efficiency of this combination is attractive (as well as reduced benefit-in-kind) with CO2 emissions from 99g/km and fuel consumption of 74mpg, with the freedom of choosing four operating modes – Auto, ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle), Four-wheel drive and Sport. You really do get the best of both worlds with 4×4 motoring, low CO2 emissions, great fuel economy and low BIK.
Phil Robson, Fleet Sales Director, said,”The clarification by HMRC that customers of our HYbrid4 cars will not incur the 3% diesel surcharge and benefit from the 10% threshold for personal BIK taxation is excellent news. It is the final piece in the HYbird4 jigsaw and means that both individuals and businesses will benefit from the best possible environmental and fiscal position”.
Peugeot contract hire is on the site now for the Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 model range.

Used Car Expert, the leading used car magazine, has undertaken an analysis of the depreciation of small family hatchbacks (1.6-litre petrol or comparable engine) and has discovered some interesting results. They looked at the resale value of three year old values against their new price, with 30,000 miles on the clock.
They found that many new car buyers will have lost up to 50% of their money in this time. Depreciation is never on most people’s minds when they buy a new car and this is why business car leasing is becoming more popular with many small businesses, as the risk around depreciation is with the vehicle leasing company.

JATO Dynamics, a leading vehicle information provider, has revealed how small cars are driving down CO2 emissions across Europe. Volume weighted average CO2 emissions across all models and segments fell by 7.9g/km last year, with the three lowest bands increasing market share.
In particular, car manufacturers producing vehicles in the 101-120g/km segment experienced a market share increase of 8.9%, moving from 16.7% to 25.6%. This market trend has been guided by the popularity of small cars in the various car scrappage schemes operated by many European countries.
The most improved brand for reducing CO2 emissions is Ferrari, reducing volume weighted CO2 emissions by 53.6g/km with Porsche coming in at second reducing by 27.5g/km (mainly due to the Cayenne Diesel).
However Fiat remains top of the lowest overall brand for CO2 topping the league with an average 127.8k/km. In second place is Toyota at 130.1g/km with Peugeot in third place at 133.6g/km.
Interestingly in the volume weighted average CO2 emissons league table, Audi is a new entrant at ninth, mainly due to the strong sales of the Audi A3 and reducing CO2 emissions across the range particularly on the high volume A4 2.0-litre TDI. The full league table is below and if you are looking for a low CO2 car try the Super Shopper where you can select by manufacturers and CO2 ranges.

Used Car Expert magazine has commented that with some Peugeot and Citroen models also sharing the same accelerator part as Toyota, and also in need of correcting, that manufacturer recalls also need to be included as part of any vehicle service history.
Magazine editor Matthew Turnbridge said,”The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VoSA) tells me that 9.36% of vehicles or components recalled last year never got repaired. While this shocking statistic includes stolen vehicles and motors that have been scrapped or written off, what it does mean is that there’s a huge number of cars out there that haven’t had a faulty part fixed – for one reason or another, owners have not answered the recall”.
If you ever want to check the state of play with any manufacturer recalls campagins then you can search at the VoSA site@ http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/default.asp . One of the added value benefits of having a maintained leased car is that the leasing company will usually be told by the manufacturer about any recalls and will notify you accordingly.
