2012 Audi A6 allroad quattro

2012 Audi A6 allroad quattro

Audi has released the details of their new A6 allroad quattro Avant bringing major efficiency gains and an even more extensive specification to the UK. This new generation version of the all-terrain A6 Avant is available now priced from £43,150 OTR to £49,445 OTR, with first deliveries expected in July.

The 2012 A6 allroad quattro has also been constructed using the latest Audi ultra lightweight construction principles and its body total vehicle weight is reduced by as much as 70 kilograms compared with the previous model. There are four engine options – 3.0 TFSI with 310PS and 440Nm, 3.0 TDI with 204PS and 450Nm, 3.0 TDI with 245PS and 580Nm, 3.0 BiTDI with 313PS and 650Nm, with fuel consumption reduced by as much as 20 per cent.

The petrol-powered option is the 3.0-litre TFSI is boosted by a mechanically driven supercharger and produces 310PS and powers the A6 allroad quattro from rest to 62mph in 5.9 seconds, on the way to an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. Yet it can still achieve 31.7 mpg according to the combined cycle test.

The TDI range comprises three 3.0-litre V6 units, the first two of which deliver 204PS or 245PS (with the help of a single turbocharger). The 204PS version is the fuel efficiency champion, achieving a combined economy figure of 46.3mpg with CO2 output of 159g/km, yet still offers you a 7.5-second zero to 62mph acceleration. The 245PS models offers 44.8mpg, 165g/km CO2, along with a 6.6-second acceleration.

Or there is the new BiTDI, that uses two turbochargers to inject 313PS and enough punch to power the A6 allroad to 62mph in just 5.6 seconds, on the way to a governed 155mph top speed. It has a sports car-style engine note that comes courtesy of Audi’s innovative sound actuator in an auxiliary channel of the exhaust system, but its economy figures remain diesel-like, with up to 42.2mpg possible and CO2 emissions at 176g/km.

The three single turbocharger engines are paired with Audi’s seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission with its wide ratio spreads and rapid fire shifts while the BiTDI uses the latest eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission.

The A6 allroad quattro is an all-terrain car and this is reflected in its exterior features such as extended side sills, flared wings and protective front and rear stainless steel underbody guards. The wheel arches, bumpers and sills are also painted in a contrasting colour, but can be body-coloured as an option.

The list of safety-focused systems is also pretty impressive and includes radar-based adaptive cruise control, Audi active lane assist lane departure warning system,  Audi side assist blind spot detection system and night vision using thermal imaging.

New biturbo V6 TDI engine

Audi has just announced that a new biturbo V6 TDI engine will enter production, to power executive class Audi models to 62mph in a fraction over five seconds and returns up to 44.1mpg. The new advanced new biturbo TDI engine heads the diesel line-up in the A6 Saloon, Avant, allroad quattro and A7 Sportback ranges, with OTR prices starting from £43,810.

It is available now in the A6 Saloon and Avant and A7 Sportback (and later in 2012 in A6 allroad), with first deliveries in the spring. The 313ps A6 Saloon 3.0 BiTDI quattro reaches 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds, has a top speed of 155mph, combined MPG of 44.1 and CO2 emissions of 169g/km.

Power is transmitted from the BiTDI engine via an eight-speed tiptronic transmission to the latest generation quattro all-wheel-drive system, which features a self-locking centre differential and torque vectoring for optimum traction control and stability. The car also comes with a sound actuator in the exhaust system that generates a “petrol engined” sports car exhaust note, to match the remarkable performance.

The new BiTDI engine is available in conjunction with SE and S line specification in the A6 Saloon, A6 Avant and A7 Sportback. Highlights that are common to all these models include satellite navigation linked to a 6.5-inch retractable colour monitor, Milano leather upholstery, the Audi drive select adaptive dynamics system controlling throttle response, transmission shift points and steering feel, the Audi parking system plus, light and rain sensors, cruise control and keyless go push-button engine ignition.

Third-generation Audi A6 Avant allroad quattro is ready to order

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012
Audi A6 Avant allroad quattro contract hire will be loaded shortly

Audi A6 Avant allroad quattro

The Audi A6 all-terrain Avant promises to build on its predecessors’ go-anywhere appeal and is the third generation model. The A6 Avant allroad quattro is expected to open for UK orders in February, with first deliveries in the spring. Three engines will be available initially – 3.0 TFSI with 310PS, 3.0 TDI with 204PS and a 3.0 TDI with 245PS. The advanced third generation A6 allroad quattro also has four-level adaptive air suspension making its world debut and prices will start from £43,145 OTR.

The new car is 4.94 metres long, 1.90 metres wide and 1.47 metres tall and sits six centimetres higher than the standard Avant.  Total vehicle weight has been reduced by as much as 70 kilograms compared with the previous model, making the car much more fuel efficient.

The new A6 allroad quattro features extended side sills, more widely flared wings and vertical slats within the single-frame grille. Stainless steel guards protect the underbody of the car at the front and rear and the exhaust system ends in two large, flattened tailpipes, with roof rails mounted on double bars. Java Brown exterior colour is available exclusively for the new A6 allroad quattro.

Audi contract hire prices are on the site now on all modoels of Audi

Audi A6 allroad quattro

The luggage compartment has a capacity of 565 litres, with easy-folding rear seats which increase luggage capacity to 1,680 litres, and Audi will offer a wide choice of cost options for the new A6 allroad quattro.

The 3.0 TFSI engine is boosted by a supercharger and produces 310PS, which powers the A6 allroad quattro from 0 to 62mph in just 5.9 seconds, on the way to a limited top speed of 155mph. The combined economy figure is 31.7mpg.

The two diesel variants of the 3.0 TDI engine produce 204PS and 245PS respectively. The entry-level 204PS version returns a combined economy figure of 46.3mpg with 159 g CO2/km emissions. All three engines are paired with the seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission.

The iconic quattro permanent four-wheel drive system ensures safe driving in all-terrain conditions and with the Audi drive select system, the driver can vary the function of the steering, the air suspension, the throttle pedal, the automatic transmission, the sport differential, the automatic air conditioning, the lighting and the adaptive cruise control.

The adaptive air suspension, which combines air suspension with controlled damping, comes as standard. It lowers the car body by 15 millimetres at high speed and raises it again by 35 millimetres at the push of a button.

This allroad mode is therefore suitable for use on rough terrain and you can also select a lift mode at low speeds. This additional ten millimetres enables the new Audi A6 allroad quattro to also handle irregularities in the road surface (road humps). There is also the hill descent assist function for steep downhill passages included as standard and this function limits the speed of the car to between 6mph and 12mph, depending on the surface. Audi A6 Avant allroad quattro contract hire prices should be loaded shortly.

Audi A4 allroad Quattro wins SCOTY Executive Car of Year award

Audi A4 allroad

Audi A4 allroad

The Audi A4 allroad Quattro has been voted as the Executive Car of the Year by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers, at the annual Scottish Car of the Year Awards.

The Audi A4 Quattro Avant is particularly well suited to the rugged landscape in Scotland and its four-wheel drive system, wider track both front and rear plus a higher ride platform of 180mm, provides an excellent driving platform.

Jeremy Hicks, Director of Audi UK said,”If proof were needed that the A4 allroad is fit for purpose, not just as super refined transport but also as a tough opponent to more testing terrain and conditions, then an award made by Scottish motoring writers surely provides it. This is a great endorsement”. Audi car leasing prices on the whole range are available off the site now.
