Citroen Nemo vans

The independent automotive parts distributor, Motor Parts Direct, has just added 25 Citroen Nemo HDi 75 manual Stop & Start LX vans to its 275 vehicle fleet. Motor Parts Direct is based in Braintree and supplies parts for cars and LCVs to trade customers from Norwich to Poole. Their current fleet is made up of mainly Citroen models including Relay and Dispatch vans so the Nemos will be a welcome addition.

Mukesh Shah, Chairman of Motor Parts Direct, Said,”We go for the LX spec as it sends a good message to the drivers. It gives them a height adjustable seat and other additional features like a nearside sliding door and remote central locking, which are important when doing our type of multi-drop work”.

The Citroen Nemo has a 660gk payload and up to 2.8 cubic metres of loadspace and is well suited to accomodating the wide range of parts that MPD offers to its trade customers. Trafficmaster Smartnav

Citroen is now offering Trafficmaster Smartnav and Trackstar (stolen vehicle package) as an option on all Nemo, Berlingo First and all other Combi and chassis variants at just £399+VAT, which is heavily subsidised and covers three years subscription to the service. The package is already standard on most Berlingo and all Dispatch and Relay panel vans.

Charles Peugeot, Head of Commercial Vehicles and Business Sector said,”Citroen fits Trafficmaster Smartnav satellite navigation as standard to more LCVs than any other manufacturer. The introduction of this heavily subsidised £399+VAT option now brings the availability of these benefits to the remainder of our LCV range”. Citroen customers can also fit Fleet Director at £19.99 +VAT per month which offers a real-time fleet management programme.

Citroen Enterprise range

Citroen has launched a seven-strong “Enterprise” range of Nemo, Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay panel vans based on the best selling version in each model range. The new Enterprise vans have amongst the highest levels of standard equipment available on any van range on the UK.

All the models will benefit from air-conditioning as standard for enhanced driver comfort, Bluetooth communications package plus reverse parking sensors for improved safety. Here are the headlines for the ranges;

• Berlingo & Dispatch Enterprise models also feature USB connectivity for iPods.
• Dispatch Enterprise models include full steel bulkheads, electrically adjustable heated and twin-lens folding door mirrors, plus fog lights.
• The two new Relay Enterprise vans also get full steel bulkheads.
• In addition, Trafficmaster Smartnav satellite navigation with Trackstar stolen vehicle tracking is also standard on all Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay Enterprise models.

Citroen is adding new Enterprise versions of the Nemo, Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay to its LCV range from January 2010. The additional specification adds air-conditioning, Bluetooth and reverse parking sensors.

Road safety is important to any light commercial van operator and Citroen already offers Trafficmaster’s Smartnav satellite system in the Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay panel vans.

Under a new initiative with Trafficmaster, Citroen is now offering the Trafficmaster Fleet Director system at a subsidised rate of £19.99+ VAT per month. Fleet Director is a real-time fleet management programme that utilises Smartnav telematics to provide direct communication with drivers and to show their exact whereabouts. This is particularly of interest if a driver is working in a remote place allowing instant two-way communication.

The reporting available from Fleet Director also allows a van operator to improve road safety and help maintain their Duty of Care requirements.

With the impending launch of the new SMMT “Van Buyers Guide”, detailing light commercial Co2 emission outputs, Citroen is publicising how green its own LCV range is. Citroen was also the first manufacturer to offer its ultra clean particulate filter on its LCV range.

- The Nemo 1.4HDi SensoDrive van (116g k/m)

More van manufacturers will have to start publishing their Co2 figures, enabling customers to see how green their carbon footprint is. Whilst the figures are readily available for cars, vans are more difficult to find and the new SMMT initiative is welcomed.
