Renault has released the details of their exciting new Limited Edition Megane Renaultsport 265 Trophy which is their fastest road car yet. This improved car has 15bhp more than the current Megane Renaultsport 250 and races from 0-62mph in only 6 seconds and onto a top speed of 158mph.

This exciting new sports car will only be available in a limited edition with only 50 cars coming to the UK, so it is pretty exclusive and will debut at World Series by Renault at the Nurgurgring circuit next weekend. The car has been competitively priced so that it will be able to take on the likes of the Volkswagen Golf and Scirocco R models.

The Limited Edition Megane Renaultsport 265 Trophy runs on Formula 1 inspired Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres and has a high level of standard equipment. You get Recaro seats with yellow seatbelts and detailing, Cup chassis, 19-inch Speedline alloy wheels in gloss black with red trim, standard Liquid Yellow i.d. metallic paint, “Trophy” red decals on F1-style front blade and doors, LED day time running lights and Renaultsport Monitor on-board performance tracking.

Orders for the new car will open on the 20th June with first deliveries expected in July and in addition, if you buy or lease one of these cars, you will get free access to all Renaultsport trackdays in the UK in 2012.

New Astra GTC coupe

Vauxhall’s eagerly awaited new Astra GTC is now ready to order with a choice of four engines, one diesel and three petrol. This new Vauxhall Astra GTC coupe model is set to throw down the gauntlet to the Volkswagen Scirocco and the Renault Megane Coupe and is the third body-style to come off the new Astra’s Delta platform, after the Hatch and Sports Tourer.

The GTC ride height has been lowered by 15mm, the wheelbase extended by 10mm and the car has wider tracks allowing the option larger rims of up to 20-inches. All models come with the Insignia VXR HiPerStrut (High Performance Strut) sophisticated front suspension combined with a Watt’s link rear axle for dynamic stability and handling precision.

The diesel option is a 165PS 2.0-litre CDTi which offers a 0-62mph time of 8.9 seconds, top speed of 130mph where permitted, combined mpg of 57.6 and CO2 emissions of 129g/km and should be popular with company car fleet drivers, with its range of up to 700 miles.

Start/Stop and a six-speed gearbox are also standard on both versions of the 1.4-litre Turbo petrol engine (120PS or 140PS) and you can return 47.9 combined mpg and 139g/km on both models. Top of the engine range is the 1.6-litre Turbo producing 180PS with a top speed of 132mph and in 2012, Vauxhall will launch the VXR model.

Standard specification is pretty generous and includes 18-inch alloy wheels, DAB stereo and USB functionality even on the entry model. Step up to the SRi and you get tinted glass, on board computer, leather trimmed steering wheel and fog lamps and we should be loading Vauxhall contract hire leasing prices very shortly.

Megane Coupe-Cabriolet

Renault has announced the pricing for their new Megane Coupe-Cabriolet which will be in showrooms from the 9th of July 2010. The new Megane Coupe-Cabriolet has a high specification including 17-inch alloys, Bluetooth, panoramic electric glass folding roof, fixed wind deflector, hands free keycard and fully integrated Carminat TomTom satellite navigation.

New high performance tyres

Continental Tyre Group has now launched the ContiSportContact 5 P high performance tyre for sports car drivers looking for extra safety on both wet and dry roads.

The new tyres have carbon blacks and resins introduced into the compound to support the flexibility of the rubber which is important for good traction, the rigidity of the tyre and important for handling. The tyre also has a large number of small tread blocks on the middle and side areas of the tread, resulting in numerous transverse edges on the tyre surface.

The new ContiSportContact 5 P has already been approved on the Renault Megane 111 Sports RS, the Audi TT RS and the Mercedes AMG C-Class and E-Class.

Renault Concept

Renault has provided a stunning new Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet car for hip-hop group N-Dubz, for use in their new pop video “Say It’s Over”. The Renault concept car has dramatic “dragonfly-wing” double doors and fitted the look for a futuristic car.

The new N-Dubz video film has already had almost 200,000 hits  on YouTube and is set to be  just a success as their first two videos.

Renault has brought out another value-for-money model with the launch of the new entry-level Megane Sport Tourer Extreme with a 1.6-litre 100 petrol engine or 1.5 dCi 86 diesel option.

Qashqai is 11th

Nissan’s compact Crossover, the Qashqai, has been rated 11th overall in the J.D. Power/WhatCar? 2009 UK Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Survey of 101 models. This is the first time it has appeared in the survey results.

The Sunderland built Qashai scored 81.4% and was rated third in the SUV category scoring highly for low ownership costs, visibility and design. The Nissan Note also did well scoring 80.1% and was in 29th position overall. Qashqai scored higher than all its traditional C-segment competitors including the VW Golf, Audi A3, Ford Focus, Mazda3, Vauxhall Astra, Honda Civic and Renault Megane.
