BMW 6 Series

If you are interested in seeing the all-new BMW 6 Series convertible and coupe, before the car’s official UK launch in October this year, then both models will be on show at the exclusive Salon Prive event at Syon Park, on the 22nd-24th June 2011. BMW will also show off its superb 4.4-litre V8-powered M3 GTS as well.

102 EX Phantom Experimental Electric

Rolls-Royce will be showing off its new 102EX Phantom Experimental Electric luxury saloon car at the forthcoming Salon Prive Spirit of Ecstacy centenary celebrations at Syon Park, West london. Rolls-Royce will be toasting 100 years of the famous lady and other Rolls-Royce models on display will be a 1911 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, 1923 Rolls-Royce Tourer and a very rare 1927 Phantom 1 Udaipur Hunting Car.

The three day Salon Prive event celebrating supercars, classic cars and luxury brands is relocating this year to the spectacular 200-acre Syon Park in West London, which is the home of His Grace, the 12th Duke of Northumberland and takes place between the 22nd and 24th June 2011. There will also be a special, brand new, “Quintessentially English Cars” sale taking place, by the international collector car specialists, RM Auctions.

Ferrari 458 Italia

The stunning Ferrari 458 Italia has been awarded Car of the Year (in the Money No Bbject” category) by the Daily Telegraph’s Motoring supplement, beating a strong field of other supercars. Paul Hudson, Head of Motoring at the Daily Telegraph, said,”The 458 Italia wins because of the pure driving pleasure it delivers – to drivers of all abilities. It flatters your driving while involving you fully in the experience”.

The Ferrari 458 Italia may not be the fastest supercar around but on looks alone and the sound from its powerful engine it certainly deserves this award.

The Ferrari 458 Italia has already won Car magazine‘s “Performance Car of the Year”, Fifth Gear‘s “Fast Car of the Year” and Auto Express‘s “Performance Car of the Year” to name just a few of its other awards, since being unveiled in September 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Moving Motor Show

This year’s 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed will now  have a one-day extension called the “Moving Motor Show” where new car buyers can preview a selection of models and even try them out, (strictly at the invitation of the car manufacturers attending). Most sectors of the new car market will be represented at the Moving Motor Show on Thursday the 1st July, from economy hatchbacks to MPVs, family saloons to SUVs and prestige limousines to supercars.

Manufacturers who have confirmed attendance include Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Jaguar, BMW, Abarth, Morgan, Volvo, Mazda, Rolls-Royce, Ford, Nissan and Alpina. The Festival of Speed attracts over 150,000 visitors every year over the three days and the cars from the manufacturers above will undertake hundreds of runs on a special evaluation route.

MPH 09

This year’s MPH Show featuring Top Gear Live is bringing together an impressive list of supercars for sound testing at the unique ”Start Up Area” at the show.

The line up of supercars includes a Ferrari 430, a Lamborghini Gallardo and a Spyker C8 with a Caparo T1 likely to create the loudest roar. The British built Caparo T1 has a 575bhp V8 engine with skyward-facing twin exhausts.

A spokesman for MPH said “In the history of motor shows there’s never been a start up area for visitors to marvel at the explosive and mesmerising sound of supercars revving their engines. This area is set to be another unmissable part of the show experience”.

New Ferrari store

Ferrari has opened their first store in Germany at the Nurburgring race circuit. The circuit is well known for testing supercars and of course the German Grand Prix will held there this weekend. The ribbon cutting ceremony was performed by Ferrari drivers, Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa and the opening heralds the plan to turn Nurburgring into an all-year round centre.

The new Nurburgring Ferrari store is spread over a single track-level floor and has been designed so that visitors can truly embrace the Ferrari experience. It will offer a wide selection of products from the Prancing Horse ranges, for GT car clients and enthusiasts. It will also include an elegant lounge for business meetings or for just relaxing while you look over the track itself.

Jaguar XJ goes public

Further to the launch of the all-new XJ, Jaguar has announced that it will unveil their new flagship at the Salon Prive. Held at the Hurlingham Club in London, the Salon Prive (22-24 July) will transform the gardens of this prestigious venue, with 50 of the most exclusive supercars and 60 classic cars.

“Salon Prive is the right choice for us to debut the new XJ,” said Geoff Cousins, UK Managing Director of Jaguar Cars. ” The quintessentially British setting of the Hurlingham Club is the ideal venue to debut the latest in a long line of iconic British luxury cars and the event offers an excellent opportunity to put the new XJ in front of an audience of potential customers”. Jaguar will also show the new XF and XK series on the nearby Super car Lawns.

The 6th Gear Experience was established three years ago and will run 30 scheduled driving experiences in 2009, in addition to other corporate hospitality and special track days. Safety is paramount and each drive is supervised by a fully trained and experienced instructor. All are experienced in driving supercars and have also been vetted through the CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) to check they can work with youngsters. Safety helmets are provided and the instructor ensures the vehicle speed is controlled to match the driver’s capability. Most young drivers average about 35mph although with practise if the instructor thinks they are competent, they can go faster.

The lucky youngsters will also receive a certificate to mark their drive with photographs available as well. The cars that are available are as follows. All feature an automatic gearbox (plus dual controls) so no previous driving experience is necessary;

- Aston Martin DB9 (0-60 in 4.6 seconds).

- Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder ( 0-60 in 3.7 seconds).

- Ferrari F360 Spider ( 0-60 in 4.4 seconds).

- Audi R8 (0-60 in 4.6 seconds).
