Renaultsport has been chosen as BBC Top Gear magazine’s Manufacturer of the Year. Conor McNicholas, Editor of Top Gear, said, “Renaultsport has been impressing us for years but 2009 was the year where the whole project hit a sweet spot -Twingo, Clio and Megane all out in hot form and all of them at their best ever. The 2009 Renaultsport range comprises of the following hot hatches;

-Twingo Renaultsport 133 comprising the 133 Cup, 133 and in 2010 the new Twingo Gordini Renaultsport.

- Clio Renaultsport 200 is available in 200 Cup or 200 versions.

- Megane Renaultsport 250 available in 250 Cup and 250 in January.

Toyota Prius

Top Gear magazine has named the Toyota Prius hybrid as their City Car of the Year at their annual awards.Top Gear praised the technology of the new Prius and the “awesome numbers” of 72.4mpg and 89g/km for a “proper family five -door hatch”.

Conor McNicholas, BBC Top Gear editor, said “You have to admire the Prius. It’s a testament to Toyota that it has refined this car over three generations to arrive at something quite ground-breaking”.

Remote control Caterham R500

Well you can have one but only in a scale model complete with remote control and the BBC Top Gear’s “The Stig” behind the wheel. The full size version of the Caterham Superlight R500 featured on BBC Top Gear last year and recorded one of the fastest ever laps plus winning the show’s coveted “Car of the Year” award for 2008.

 The 1:16 scale model with full function radio control could be an ideal present for Xmas for anyone over the age of eight and is available in two colours – the famous white and red stripe, plus the yellow and black combination. Both are on separate radio frequencies thereby allowing you to race each other.

Hot Rods at Beaulieu

On Sunday the 21st June, the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu will see hundreds of stunning Hot Rods and Custom Cars, sunning themselves in the picturesque grounds. Last year over 250 vehicles attended the first event and more are expected this year.  You can expect the usual Hot Rods and Customs but look out for Classic Americans, Chops and Bobbers.

There will also be a display of the iconic Airstream caravans, Tot Rods and a Static Wild Bunch Dragster Exhibition, plus trade stands and prizes for the best vehicles.  Admission is from 10.00 a.m. and includes entry to the whole Beaulieu event, including the National Motor Museum with the new Autoglym “Jaguar Jamboree” Exhibition, Palace House, home of the Montagu family since 1538 and 13th century Beaulieu Abbey and gardens, plus rides for all the family.

You will also be able to see the attraction’s newest feature,” World of Top Gear”, with some actual cars from some of the most ambitious challenges Jeremy, Richard and James have undertaken, plus you can hear stories and see clips from some of their best moments over the years.
