Volkswagen Vans has introduced a fixed price servicing offer across the UK, to encourage more van drivers to use their servicing centres. If you drive your Volkswagen van on a non-maintained contract hire arrangement you are responsible for all servicing and therefore this new offer may save you money.

Interim and full services are available for all Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles at all Volkswagen Van Centres in the UK and the following prices (excluding VAT) are valid until the 31st March 2011.

Volkswagen Vans has just taken 47 orders from the dishwasher specialist, Winterhalter, who has replaced their entire fleet with a mixture of Volkswagen Caddy, Transporter and Crafter vans.

Winterhalter designs and manufacturers commercial dishwasher systems and the vans are going to be used by their national service engineers. Jason Mckay, Operations Director at Winterhalter said,”We operate a 96 per cent first time fix service for our customers so vehicle reliability was very important to in our purchasing decision and as a German manufacturer we were pleased to find a German van brand that could meet our standards”. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has celebrated winning a £1.7 million deal to supply over 80 Transporter vans to Arcus Engineering, who operate the refrigeration maintenance contract for Sainsbury’s supermarkets in the South East. The Arcus fleet now comprises of the new Transporter, the Caddy and were supplied on contract hire by Lex Autolease.

Janet Bass, ArcusFM fleet manager explained “It was imperative that we launched Arcus Engineering with a fleet that was reliable and robust. Arcus Engineering in based in Upminster, Essex and is a new refrigeration division to sister company ArcusFM.

Volkswagen Vans

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is sponsoring various action and adventure programmes on three Discovery Network channels for the next 12 months. There will be short Volkswagen adverts shown before and after programmes like Bear Grylis: Born Survivor, Deadliest Catch and Storm Chasers to name just a a few.

The adverts will feature a plumber, vet and gardener arriving in their Volkswagen Caddy, Transporter and Crafter vans and will discover their job is more challenging than they thought. The strapline, “Every job’s an adventure” is announced by actor Ray Winstone. Volkswagen California

The Volkswagen California and the Transporter van base  have been officially recognised at The Which Motorcaravan Awards 2010. The Volkswagen California was voted the Best Multi-purpose Motorcaravan and a Volkswagen campervan conversion by Bilbo’s was also nominated in the same category. The Transporter van was runner-up in the Base Vehicle Category.

New VW Bus iPhone App

Veloce Publishing, the motoring publisher know for its “Essential Buyer’s Guide” series has now launched its first iPhone App, called VW Bus- The Essential Buyer’s Guide, priced at £2.39.

This new iPhone App gives author Richard Copping the opportunity of sharing his experiences and expertise about the VW Bus and includes 18 sections, ranging from cost considerations, to the sorts of common problems you may experience if you buy this classic car.

New Transporter

Volkswagen has updated their Transporter range of  vans with new styling and quieter, more economical Euro 5 common rail TDI engines.

The Transporter range continues to offer a choice of panel vans, chassis cabs, shuttle and window van people movers with up to nine seats. Enhancing the range is a new kombi model with a folding and removable rear bench seat that can carry up to six people.

Four new 2.0-litre four-cylinder common rail TDI engines are available, offering greater power and torque plus servicing intervals are extended by 7,000 miles to a maximum of 25,000 miles. Volkswagen has also added ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme) as standard for greater stability plus ARP (anti rollover protection),Ready Alert Brake and Rain Brake Support for faster braking. Adding to this you also get a trailer stabilisation function and an all-new hill-start assist.

The 102 PS engine offers a CO2 emission output of 199g/km and 37.7 mpg on the combined fuel cycle while the 140PS engine emits 203g/km and provides 36.7 mpg. Van contract hire leasing prices are available shortly.

Matthew Bowden

Volkwagen Commercial Vehicles has appointed Matthew Bowden as Head of Operations responsible for new and used vehicles sales and managing the future development of the Volkswagen Van Centre network.

Matthew said,”I’m really delighted to be joining Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles at such a key stage in its development. With the launch of the new Transporter and Amarok pick-up next year my ambition is to do everything possible to ensure my team and our Van Centre network make the most of the great opportunities ahead”.

VW Caddy Maxi

A Volkswagen Caddy Maxi has set a new world record after travelling 9,630 miles non-stop across the Transeurasia route, from the Atlantic coast in Portugal to the Pacific coast in Russia, in just over eight days.

“The Caddy’s comfort, reliability and robust construction made it the third member of our team” said driver Andreas Renz.

He went onto say,”The fact that we completed this difficult route in record time speaks volumes for Volkswagen’s quality”.

The Caddy Maxi had the benefit of Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive transmission (already offered on the California and Transporter) which will be also available on both the Caddy and Caddy Maxi vans next year. Volkswagen contract hire prices are available now on all versions of the Caddy Maxi.

Volkswagen vans

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has increased its market share for the fifth consecutive month and moves from third to second best selling van range (up to 7.4 tonnes).

In September their registrations rose by nine per cent and its market share increased by 2.3 per cent to 10.65 per cent compared to same period last year. The increase in sales was mainly due to the rise in Transporter and Caddy, including the Caddy Maxi.
