California Beach Camper

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched the new entry-level Volkswagen California Beach Camper offering even greater value and seating for up to seven people, with prices starting at £34,970 RRP on-the-road. The California Beach Camper has all the appeal of the standard California, plus the versatility of the Caravelle and has sleeping accomodation for four people.

You get a choice of two 2.0-litre TDI engines and making its debut is the 114 PS BlueMotion Technology model offering a combined mpg of 40.4 and CO2 emissions of 184g/km (five-speed manual). Or you can opt for the more powerful 140 PS unit, mated to a six-speed manual, which returns 36.7mpg and has CO2 emissions of 203g/km.

This newcomer to the California range is well equipped and comes with 16-inch “Miyato” alloy wheels, climatic air conditioning, CD/radio with eight speakers and the choice of Sunny Yellow exterior paint and “Takato” upholstery are exclusive to Beach models.

Volkswagen Transporter

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has reported a rise in their sales for the first half of this year with a 16% increase in vehicle registrations, with around 2,400 commercial vehicles being registered. All its van ranges have been updated over the last 18 months and they have also introduced the new Amarok pick-up which looks set to be a success as well.

The new Caddy was also the best selling van in the 2,001 to 2,499kg class, making it Volkswagen’s best selling van this year, just in front of the Transporter. Crafter sales were also strong and 240 Amaroks have been registered this year -to-date.

VW Amarok

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has reported that following its appearance at the CV Show 2011, it has seen a greater increase in sales enquiries and test drive requests, than the last time it appeared at the show, in 2008.

Star of the VW stand was the new UK version of the Amarok pick-up, supported by the Caddy and Transporter van ranges, plus there was also entertainment on hand with the opportunity to play darts with darts champions, James Wade and Mark Webster.

Volkswagen Caddy

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has scooped three van awards at the VansA2Z Van of the Year 2011 awards, including winning the top prize of Van of the Year for the new Caddy.

The Volkswagen Caddy also won the category for Best Light Van and the Transporter picked up the Best Small Panel Van award. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has signed a new sponsorship deal with the world number two darts player, James Wade. They have agreed to sponsor him with a 12-month contract in time for this year’s World Championships. After the announcement, Mr Wade said,”Volkswagen vans have a superb reputation for reliability, strength and success, something I aim to provide when on the oche, during the sponsorship and beyond”.

Bryony Shaw

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has provided Olympic hopeful, windsurfer Bryony Shaw, with a Transporter Kombi to carry her equipment as she trains for the 2012 Olympics. Bryony is Britain’s number one female windsurfer and is second in the RS-X world rankings.

Her van has been customised with roof spoiler, alloy wheels, tinted glass and bespoke graphics, featuring her sport. In addition the vehicle has a towbar to tow her rib and as it is a Kombi, it also has the versatility of a second row of seats which can fold forward to create a longer load length when needed.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched a new electronic newsletter called Van Mail. This new quarterly newsletter is designed to give potential owners and van operators an insight into all the latest news, offers and also competitions from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

The first edition has been launched this week and features the chance to win a VIP tour of the Red Bull Racing factory, who use Volkswagen vans to keep their racing cars on the track by delivering their spare parts.  David George, Head of Marketing, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said,” Van Mail is intended to be informative, valuable and rewarding. Volkswagen vans

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has delivered the first of 2,000 vans to British Gas in their new livery, cyan blue. The new design is part of British Gas’ ongoing modernisation of their brand and business.

The new Volkswagen vans will be used by British Gas engineers and energy experts across the UK on the average 10,000 service checks a day that they perform. The vans are also fitted with speed limiters and racking to help control any load if they have to brake heavily and British Gas is also trialling a Transporter Shuttle minibus. The 2,000 order includes a mixture of Volkswagen Caddy, Caddy Maxi and a Crafter dropside and will be now added to the British Gas vehicle fleet of around 10,000.

British Gas Volkswagen vans

The Caddy and Caddy Maxi vans have load volumes from 3.2 cubic metres and return 54.3 mpg on the extra urban cycle making them efficient as well as practical.
