Hyundai Veloster

The Hyundai Veloster 1+2 sports coupe has been awarded the maximum five stars in the Euro NCAP safety rating and scored exceptionally well in the adult occupant tests scoring 96%. The Veloster also did well in the child occupant tests scoring 89% and this is now the sixth consecutive Hyundai model to achieve the maximum five star safety rating.

The scores in the “adult occupant” and “child occupant” categories now puts the Veloster ahead of other models like the Volkswagen Scirocco, Vauxhall Astra GTC and Citroen DS4.

Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup

Volkswagen has launched an exciting new live streaming application called “R-Cup mobile” which allows motorsport enthusiasts to catch every wheel-tp-wheel battle throughout the Scirocco R-Cup series.

You can now watch each round live on your iPhone of iPod touch and in addition the app includes news about the series, tracks and drivers, plus photos, videos, results and the latest points standings.

New Citroen DS4

The new Citroen DS4 has already been voted “Most Beautiful Car of the Year” by more than 60,000 web users in 62 countries and it is now officially going on sale on the 4th July. There are three trim levels available - DSign, DStyle and DSport with a range of five Euro 5 compliant engines.

This is second model in the DS line (after the DS3) and Citroen is targeting the sector between coupes, hatchbacks and crossovers. Cars such as the Volkswagen Scirocco, Renault Megane Coupe, Volkswagen Golf and Honda Civic Hatch, Alfa Romeo Giulietta, BMW 1 Series, Audi A3 Sportback and crossovers such as the Nissan Qashqai and MINI Countryman are in the DS4′s sights.

Rear-view Citroen DS4

The car looks like a sleek coupe but it has 5-door flexibility and a raised stance. Eye-catching lines are enhanced by a chrome finished waistline, dark tinted windows, rear spoiler and stylish 19-inch alloys in scupltured wheel arches. Three full-size rear seats are on offer and the boot has a large 359 litre capacity, which increases to 385 litres using the under floor storage.

The cabin oozes comfort in a premium environment with high-quality cabin materials, drilled aluminium pedals, embossed door handles and a choice of five leather combinations. There is also a large panoramic windscreen offering enhanced occupant visibility and a bright and welcoming environment. The colour of the instrument dials and cluster can also be changed to further refine the driving experience.

Engine options are two diesels- HDi 110 and HDi 160 and three BMW co-developed petrol engines- VTi 120, THP 155 and a new THP 200. The THP 200 offers a top speed of 146 mph (where permitted), a 0-62mph time of 8.5 seconds, CO2 emissions of 149g/km and a combined mpg of 44.1. The HDi 110 is also available in an e-HDi option which uses Stop & Start (plus micro-hybrid techology) to boost fuel economy by 15% in city driving conditions, with CO2 emissions at just 110g/km.

The Ds4 has lots of safety features including ESP with Intelligent Traction Control, ABS with EBD and EBA, six airbags and two Isofix mountings on the rear seats. Other safety offerings include Citroen’s new blind-spot monitoring system, programmable cruise control and a speed limiter. Citroen business car leasing is on the site now on all models.

Mazda MX-5

The Mazda MX-5 has been voted the highest sports car by owners in the 2011 J.D power & Associates vehicle ownership survey, as it was last year. The Mazda MX-5 is the world’s best selling roadster and over 17,000 drivers were interviewed about their respective cars, with the two-seater MX-5 being highly rated for its driving dynamics, handling, low ownership costs, mechanical reliability and interior quality.

The Mazda MX-5 has a range of 10 models and two new special edition “Kendo” were also added this year. The car scored 82.4 per cent in the survey and beat other rivals like the the Volkswagen Scirocco, Audi TT and Mercedes-Benz CLK and SLK.

New Astra GTC coupe

Vauxhall’s eagerly awaited new Astra GTC is now ready to order with a choice of four engines, one diesel and three petrol. This new Vauxhall Astra GTC coupe model is set to throw down the gauntlet to the Volkswagen Scirocco and the Renault Megane Coupe and is the third body-style to come off the new Astra’s Delta platform, after the Hatch and Sports Tourer.

The GTC ride height has been lowered by 15mm, the wheelbase extended by 10mm and the car has wider tracks allowing the option larger rims of up to 20-inches. All models come with the Insignia VXR HiPerStrut (High Performance Strut) sophisticated front suspension combined with a Watt’s link rear axle for dynamic stability and handling precision.

The diesel option is a 165PS 2.0-litre CDTi which offers a 0-62mph time of 8.9 seconds, top speed of 130mph where permitted, combined mpg of 57.6 and CO2 emissions of 129g/km and should be popular with company car fleet drivers, with its range of up to 700 miles.

Start/Stop and a six-speed gearbox are also standard on both versions of the 1.4-litre Turbo petrol engine (120PS or 140PS) and you can return 47.9 combined mpg and 139g/km on both models. Top of the engine range is the 1.6-litre Turbo producing 180PS with a top speed of 132mph and in 2012, Vauxhall will launch the VXR model.

Standard specification is pretty generous and includes 18-inch alloy wheels, DAB stereo and USB functionality even on the entry model. 2012 Hyundai Veloster

It looks like wait is over as Hyundai finally unveils the 2012 version of the Hyundai Veloster at the North American International Auto Show 2011. The Hyundai is a new sports coupe to take on the likes of the Honda CR-Z and Volkswagen Scirocco.

Originally launched at the Seoul Motor Show in 2007 as a glass roofed 2+2 three-door sports hatchback, the 2012 Hyundai Veloster will make its debut on January 10th in Detroit at NAIAS, when further images and vehicle technical details should be announced. Volkswagen Scirocco

Volkswagen has revealed that the 100,000th Volkswagen Scirocco has rolled off the production line at the VW Autoeuropa-Automoveis Ltds. plant in Portugal. The Scirocco compact coupe has been one of the most successful Volkswagen cars in their history, with 795,650 vehicles sold upto 1992.

The 100,000th  model that came off the line was a Scirocco R 2.0-litre TSI in Rising Blue Metallic, with a Titan Black interior, radio navigation system, Park Pilot and tilting sunroof. At the plant in Portugal, Volkswagen also produces the Eos and the new Sharan, however the Scirocco is an important model for the company. Andreas Hinrichs, Autoeuropa Plant Manager, said,”The Scirocco is one of the most important cars that we produce. For myself personally, it was a moving moment”.
