The County of Suffolk is situated on the east coast of England, bordered by the North Sea, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. Then there’s Lowestoft, the most easterly point in the UK and famous for its maritime connections and great beaches. Ipswich is the county town of Suffolk, with its medieval streets and architectural gems.
If you want to enjoy the heart of Suffolk, then visit Stowmarket, Bury St. Edmunds, Lavenham (one of the best preserved medieval towns in England and mainly untouched by time). Or visit the birthplace of the artist, Thomas Gainsborough, in Sudbury. Not forgetting Dedham Vale and the Stour Valley, home of the artist John Constable, where you can walk in his footsteps and soak up the peaceful countryside that inspired his great paintings. Thetford Forest can be found to the west of Suffolk along with Newmarket, famous as the headquarters of British racing.
