Finding
UK Electric Vehicle Charging Points for Cars & Vans just got easier with the
Government announcement to create new National Chargepoint Registry.
If you run a fleet of electric vehicles or are planning to lease an electric car or van, one of the obstacles faced is will you "run out of juice" if planning a longer journey, especially in colder weather (which uses more energy).
Finding UK electric vehicle charging points across the country has been an issue as the network of EV electric vehicle charging points is not as widespread as say petrol/diesel stations.
The Government recognises the pent-up demand for electric vehicles and that "range anxiety" is one reason why many customers may be put off choosing an electric vehicle.
The new National Chargepoint Registry will be run by a company called POD-Point, a UK-based electric vehicle chargepoint manufacturer. In addition the Government intends to create a new system called the Central Whitelist, which will incorporate all the regional Plugged-in Places nationwide in one register, for easy access.
The new UK Electric Vehicle Charging Point register for cars and vans will also enable technology businesses to create various apps for smartphones, or satnav system providers, to enable you to locate where your nearest EV charging station is along your journey. This should in the longer-term increase the demand for electric cars and vans as you need never fear of running out of battery charge.
In the short-term however there is a
UK Electric Vehicle Charging Points for Cars & Vans mapping service provided by
Zap-Map.
